20,828 Joint Record Attendance! 22:13 - Aug 30 with 2501 viewsjackharris

Great to see our attendance figures increasing!
Could have been over 21,000, however, new seats were removed from the East Stand row A next to the North Stand!

Did the old Wembley stadium have a few rows of seats right up in the roof of the stadium?

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Thought it was but wasn't sure.

Does seem strange but can't see 300? seats being taken out if the figure of just over 21,000 was correct

I'm not sure but I seem to remember a load of seats "bolted" onto the roof in there. A good option for us.

fantastic news

I really think there was about another 21000 in the city who would have happily paid to get into that game today...

Games like today we'd probably sell 35,000 tickets for.

26/27,000 capacity for most games would be ample.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

5th season in the PL. Already well on the way to making it a 6th — not that there was/is ever any doubt.

Should be 27,000 AT LEAST by now, possibly rising to 32,000

30K would be a tidy capacity, the club is getting bigger every season .

30,000 capacity and normally a 27,000 attendance sounds perfect to me. It gives us some capacity so families can sit together. I'd rather we had a 90% crowd in a bigger stadium than what what we've got now.

Of course, we could still get relegated - early days, small club, these things happen etc etc.

Interesting to see Sir Huw's comments that we need the permission of our Landlords (Swansea Council) before we can extend the ground. About time you all start writing to you local Councillors.

Easily sell 35,000 for a game like yesterday's, probably a lot more IMO. Expansion can't happen quick enough now. The club is growing on and off all the time.

Hopefully we can beat it against Everton. Only 10 tickets left and everyone should be back from their Summer holidays as well.

Tickets left for Spurs and quite a few left for Stoke as they have not taken their full allocation.

Hopefully our good start to the season will ease off any relegation worries that may have been there and we can crack on now with a view to the capacity being increased for next season

Yes 35k for the top 4 and Liverpool would easily be achieved. Think with every sinew strained 33k is going to be the limit, but that's still impressive

Writing in his programme notes ahead of the Manchester United game, Jenkins says the club needs the full support of Swansea City Council and all its members

He wrote: “Looking forward I'm convinced we must take advantage of the increased Premier League income next season to help us expand the Liberty Stadium.

“I also believe we need the full support of Swansea City Council and all its members to help us through this difficult process. Obtaining planning permission and buying the small parcel of land near the stadium has already cost the football club over £1.5m without a brick being placed.

"We clearly need 'Landlord's Consent' from Swansea City Council to help us move forward further before the New Year.

“Most importantly we need 100% commitment from everyone connected with Swansea City, together with some peace of mind that we can cover the estimated £20m needed to expand the Liberty without the football budget being squeezed in any way over the next couple of years.

“Our own stadium expansion plans and spending budgets are in stark contrast to the budget available to our opponents this afternoon but that's what has helped us make us the proud football club we are today and provides us all with the added motivation we need going forward.”

Does anybody know which "small parcel of land" he is referring too? Is it behind the South Stand?

Yes I would assume it is the piece of land immediately behind the South Stand! I know this did have a third party owner! Macdonalds were going to build on it until they realised it would have been a mistake!

The only other small piece of land is the land by the railway viaduct being used for the new barn!
