The Jeremy Corbyn thread part two on 23:25 - Oct 2 by Dr_Winston | People who look to someone as catastrophically stupid as Charlotte Church for political guidance should have the vote taken off them. As each day passes I become more convinced that voting should be an earned privilege and not a right.

I don't think I'd ever look to Charlotte Church for political guidance lol. And solving climate change (as if it could ever be done anyway) won't stop the war in Syria. But it is part of a chain of events that have contributed to the current situation. And she's still got a lovely bottom.

The Jeremy Corbyn thread part two on 18:47 - Oct 2 by londonlisa2001 | I don't think she did research it properly Brynnie. It sounded incoherent and badly explained. As I said - I understood the point she was trying to make and it's an interesting one - I just think that she is doing herself no favours by trying to appear knowledgeable and profound when she isn't. |
The scientific claim behind the point she was trying to make has been debunked already, I do believe. Picking up that one to try to influence people and make herself look knowledgeable was very Brand-esque with the same results.

Me too - was reading about it the other day, trying to find the link again. Think it stemmed along the lines that the original writers of that theory weren't climate scientists thus working way outside their comfort zone, ignored the Sunni/Shia dynamics. That ISIS grew into Syria as US et al pulled out of Iraq. Also that given there are far more severe droughts around the world, you'd thus expect similar issues worldwide if the hypothesis had any credibility. Personally, it seems an incredibly simplistic link to make between climate change and ISIS. Saying Syria had a drought, ISIS now in Syria therefore the two are linked ignores so many other factors it's ridiculous to say ISIS was caused by the drought. At best you could say the the drought caused displacement which meant ISIS recruiting had better effect...

The Jeremy Corbyn thread part two on 00:25 - Oct 4 with 1648 views | acejack3065 | Can't say I was impressed with any of the question time panel this week. God help us if Stephen Crabb is the standard of cabinet minister these days, he didn't know his @rse from his elbow. Kinnock Jr is the most uninspiring politician I've ever misguidedly expected anything positive from. Leanne was an absolute joke. A few more performances like that and UKIP will replace Plaid in the assembly before long. That Tory journo just didn't fit at all and couldn't really add to discussions relevant to Wales. I felt bad for Charlotte Church because she obviously had something to say but lacked the intelligence to express it coherently. A waste of an hour.

The Jeremy Corbyn thread part two on 22:39 - Sep 29 by Brynmill_Jack | The problem with the likes of you Perch is that you aren't intelligent enough to differentiate between Communism and Socialism, because they are NOT the same thing. Jeremy Corbin is not a communist, has no ties with the U.S.S.R. and is definitely no public schoolboy. The probem with you and others who class all socialists as communists is that you live with a skewed vision of yourselves and your place in the world, and have been programmed by the likes of Murdoch, Thatcher, Cameron and Osbourne into alarming levels of self delusion. You are programmed to believe that you are middle class - let me tell you you're scum just like the rest populationi in their eyes - one of the minions that your heroes Cameron and Osbourne hold in the deepest contempt. Why? Because with the help of Rupert Murdoch they've fooled you(and the rest of the Sun readers) into thinking that you are in the well off bracket. You are , in comparrisson to those living on benefits but that's no real achievement. The posh Tory boys (your idols) are taking the p*ss out of the DGT's and PRJ's (and Bluey the Blues - but at least he's used to ridicule) for believing that you actually matter. You don't until election time comes around. Then you become irrelevant once again. They are stoking you with outrge over benefit claimants who don't exist whilst turning your attention away from the banking sector and big corporations being excused paying their fair share of taxes. Wake up and smell the coffee. |

When my parents are dead, I truly wonder if I will end up severing the links I have. As they say, serious post. That really is my last comment on this . Good luck |

Working class pig who became a middle class pig now doubts whether there are any poor people in Britain despite living in and policing a very poor part of Britain. Middle class pig thinks they're not poor if their children aren't literally starving. Mrs Thatcher has done a good job of middle class pig to the extent that he sneers at anyone who is not middle class. Give them lot's of money and turn them against the people they came from. Set them against poor people fighting the loss of their jobs. It worked. Good job Mrs Thatcher. Good job Ritchie.

I thought the claim was that the civil war was in part caused by the movement of people from the countryside due to a drought caused by climate change? ISIS don't factor into it really.

I'm not sure it's a surprise that the Guardian is a giving a left-wing politician a lot of coverage. I was more surprised the BBC news showed Cameron's disingenuous attack on him in his speech yesterday, but declined to show a Labour response to it. On this issue, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. We've seen people in this thread prepared to label him a hypocrite if he kneels before the Queen given his republican stance, so he's chosen to avoid it (which there is precedence for, if not usually for party leaders) and will still be attacked for it. I'm no fan of Corbyn's, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up being one if the media coverage continues in this manner for the next few years.

Corbyn is a republican, slef confessed, ergo he really shouldn't accept being made a PC whether he bows to the queen or not. He wont bow to the queen as it wll not look good to his supporters, no more than that. Im confident the more he sniffs power the more hypocritical, the more duplicitous he ll become. At the end of the day, really imagine him travelling abroad representing OUR country and that s rich and poor as the rich have a right to be protected as much as the poor .

I thought Cameron's attack on him was quite staggering. On the plus side, as it is now fair game to say absolutely anything about your political opponent with little to no basis in fact, I look forward to the next episode of PMQ where Corbyn attacks Cameron for screwing the residents of a Danish pig farm.

G'day Perch. I hope you're not feeling any Aussie sympathies before Saturday? Fair enough on your views. I don't see someone who goes through our education system, freedoms, etc and then wants to create a fairer society as a bad person, but you are of course entitled to. Will he become more hypocritical and duplicitous? Quite likely. It's difficult to see how he could hope to win power without doing so, as can be clearly seen by our current and recent PM's. Yes the rich have a right to be protected as much as the poor. But are you really saying they aren't already? Come on, you're not naive. I find Cameron's 'War on Poverty' speech to be very interesting. It goes against everything his government have been doing for years when it comes to social policy, especially given the tax credit changes are going to push another 200k people into poverty. A cynic would say he's doing the obvious and logical thing of appealing to the centrist voters who are concerned by Labour's move to the left. If he actually follows through with his promises, I'll be very impressed. I will just add that despite our many clashes, I agree with Wayne that Hump's use of 'pig' for policeman is wrong and insulting. Especially at this time, given recent tragic events.

The Guardian isn't a fan of Corbyn. The BBC, funnily enough, reported the PM's speech to his party conference. Shock horror. It didn't show a Labour Party response because there wasn't an immediate one ( or if it was, it wasn't deemed newsworthy) - come back Alistair Campbell, all is forgiven. A 'spokesman for Jeremy Corbyn' did reply somewhat feebly and it's now on the BBC website. Cameron is "rattled", apparently. Jeremy was probably too busy knitting organic yoghurt with transgendered cyclists. In a yurt.
