Could he really go down to set an example?

Perhaps the only reason he'd ever leave Spain and play in England even.Messi playing against the Swans down the Lib would be something.

No chance Messi will do time,it simply won't happen.
If or when he is found quilty, the powers that be will find a way to punish him, without sending him jail.
Bet there are a few other Spanish footballers who are hastily reviewing their accountancy practises

I nearly wrote for the Swans but remembered Monk doesn't attract any players at all.

Rangel would have him in his pocket.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

The Catalonian powers that be maybe.

The Castillan powers that be however may take great pleasure in it.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

A Castillian judge won't send him down any more than a Brazillian one would.

I don't know the ins and outs of it, but I would bet he will pass the buck on to his creative accountancy team, pay a massive fine and be done with it. I wouldn't mind betting he was under the impression that what he was doing was legal anyway. Is it really worth someone of his standing breaking the law for a few million quid?

Possibly. Far less controversial than putting the worlds best footballer away for tax fraud someone probably committed on his behalf

that judge could make a name for himself... send him down, retire and get a book deal worth millions "I sent the world's best football player of all time to prison".

Very true, the Spanish civil war is still a running sore in both Catalonia and Castille.

If he goes to the chokey for 12 months or whatever and fancies a stint in the PL, there's no way he's coming to us. We don't want crims playing for the Swans. No way.

Yes I know.

It would be a magnified version of a judge in Swansea jailing a Cardiff player just because he could. Funny in theory. Wouldn't actually happen.
