Cyclists, thick or just very conceited ? 15:12 - Oct 23 with 11658 views | WxmJax | Why do so many cyclists take to the road wearing black ? The ordinary cyclists are bad enough but those that have all the gear and the expensive bikes I just don't understand. Why don't they wear something that's high viz ? Roads are dangerous enough without making yourself more difficult to be seen.

Cyclists, thick or just very conceited ? on 08:55 - Oct 24 by jackal | Fair point. I pay road tax. But I've just heard that I've got that computer thing on my car that fiddles the emission's test. Not my fault. But more hassle. |
Road tax was abolished years ago, if your still paying it your getting ripped off. The Vehicle excise duty you pay for polluting stopped paying directly to road maintenance back in the 30's. Road maintenance budget comes from general taxation which everyone pays for. Besides its cars and lorry so that ruin road surfaces, not cyclists.

I wonder if these same cyclists are able to drive? It's going to CHAOS out there when everyone goes for a spin in their CITREONS.

Fair point but the majority do occasionally signal and stop at red lights. Not to mention not driving two abreast on busy/narrow roads and staying off the fücking pavement.

I somehow doubt very much if you've read The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien. A comic masterpiece in which the protagonist, by molecular transference, becomes part bicycle because of the considerable time he spends on it. Judging by limited intelligence exhibited in your posts, I assume you're seldom off your bike.

I commute around 150km to work a week by bike between Bromley and kings cross. A couple of years ago I'd agree with you that most cyclists in the morning would go through red lights if they thought it safe to do so. It used to drive me mad, especially if they go through a pedestrian crossing on a green man. But I honestly think more people obey the traffic lights these days after operation Safeway, but I can't speak for all. But drivers routinely drive through red lights too. After waiting at a red, I'l set off on a green light, and some chancer is still crossing thinking that they can just go through as their light has just turn red and thinking they can take advantage of the gap when both sets of lights are red.

I can only repeat what I've already said. The Mumbles road is a 2 lane fairly quickly driven road. There is a cycle path running alongside. Why can't the cars drive on the road and the cyclists ride on the cycle path? The road can be dangerous for cyclists who I've seen riding side by side. The idiotic suggestions that motorists walk or catch buses so that cyclists can have the road is ridiculous. Why don't the cyclists do that if it's such a brilliant idea?
