My wife's gran is 94 and still as sharp as a tack, but she is crippled by arthritis and can't do any of the things she used to do.
She has never had a home help or meals on wheels and is fiercely independent, however she is thoroughly fed up with her body giving up and just wants to die. Was still doing crosswords and sudoku up until a few years back but cannot hold a pen any more or use pegs to hang out her washing.
She keeps telling me three score and ten is what we were designed for and there is no good in living on past that date. 120 is fifty years too late.
I am 54 and enjoying life but I don't think I would want another 60-70 years, especially as your body would be incapable of doing anything other than just sitting there. |  |

I think those of us under 40 will be fecking miracles to get past 75!!!! So much abuse done by booze, processed food and "recreational drugs", plus all of us have no idea whatsoever about the effects mobile phones have had or are having on us.

Totall agree with you, as I said earlier my wife's gran up until her mid 80's was still active, mentally sharp and mobile. My parents are both almost 80 and are still fit for their age, but getting more and more fragile.
I am more active now than I was ten years ago, but my knees and back are weak and I know they will start causing problems sooner than later.
The though of losing my independence would kill me, but when I go I want to go with no regrets and know I have given it my all and flat out to the end. | |

Life is for living enjoy it, you're a long time dead, snap out of it chaps, its Christmas. 
A cleaner in work went home ill a week last Saturday and a few hrs later he dropped dead, he was 67, a nicer chap you'd struggle to meet, shocking. [Post edited 30 Nov 2015 22:33]

I ve often thought about longevity...I would live to 120,provided I was physically and mentally up to it of course. By the time 120 comes around the medical and scientific technology should be there to prolong for another few hundred years. I like this idea,turning myself into an immortal like Adam Etrerno,the man who could not die.I ll still keep posting on here for future generations..
