Donald Trump 13:40 - Jan 27 with 43352 viewsLoyal

Beginning to gain momentum, regardless of people's feelings on him.

Some people are saying that he will never be President.

One name Ronald Reagan. The Americans love all this, and would vote for it to happen.
That I am sure.

My view is he won't live long enough for this to materialise.

Being vegetarian is Carson's sole redeeming feature.

I quite enjoyed his biography when I was a kid to be fair. Seeing him on stage now however makes me wonder if this is -ANOTHER- carson.

He is playing to the masses unfortunately and that means the saying things that will out trump Trump and Cruz. As a former surgeon does he really believe in the second amendment and the whole abortion debate? As an African American does he go along with craziness of the Donald on immigration I.e building a wall on the US/Mexican border or banning Muslims entering the United States. Carson is likable person it just seems he is pandering to the White voters would rather vote for a Trump or a Cruz type of politician who will say the people can keep their guns (even though no politician on the democratic side has advocated the wholesale confiscation of firearms, even though the NRA has repeatly lied as said that is what the candidates have said and the GOP candidates have endorsed that lie) or they will do something about abortion knowing they they can do diddly squat as Roe v Wade made abortion legal and the individual states have the ultimate say on their abortion policies.

If only one could pick the best bits from Trump and Col Sanders.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/13/cbs-republican-debate-trump-bush-

Trump openly accused the Bush administration of knowingly lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in order to justify an invasion of Iraq in 2003, a step beyond anything that most Democrats, let alone any Republican, have said.

“Obviously the war in Iraq was a big, fat mistake, all right?” Trump said at the debate in Greenville, South Carolina. “George Bush made a mistake, we can make mistakes. But that one was a beauty.”

He added, forcefully: “They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction — there were none. And they knew there were none. There were no weapons of mass destruction.”

The Donald has won the South Carolina Primary, it looks like barring a major feck up by Trump it looks like the ego is on his way to be the GOP's nominee in November.

Interesting again. Suspect that Sanders needed a better showing in Nevada than happened - difficult to see anything other than Hillary at the moment.

On the other side of the fence (who's going to pay for that fence? Mexico...) it really is starting to look as though clasie's confident predictions of Trump being finished by Super Tuesday may be somewhat optimistic. For the first time, I'm beginning to think he really might win the nomination !

Hillary won in Nevada, but there is a going to be a shit load of stuff to come out about her private email scandal and the baggage such as Benghazi and of course Bill in the background so don't rule out Bernie yet, as of all things he is very popular with young voters. As for Trump that could go two ways it will strengthen his campaign and he will steamroller his way past Super Tuesday or Cruz and Rubio will pick up the supporters of the candidates that have dropped out! Jeb Bush dropped out last night and he was the most intelligent one, in the whole race on the GOP side. Rubio looks like the one who would benefit from the votes of the supporters of the candidates who have suspended their nominations. Cruz looks like he has shot his bolt as the sleazy knob used some really underhand tactics that have put him in a really bad light.

I suspect Trump dominates right now due to the plurality of candidates. I think it'll be between Rubio and Trump, with Rubio gaining enough head to head votes to win.

Clinton is a joke; aside from the email fiasco, the easy retort is she put up with Bill shagging everything in sight for her own political ends.

He's not eating at all into her support from African Americans though or other minorities (or he doesn't seem to be from what we are being told here at least).

I watched the interviews with Bush, trump, Rubio and Cruz. What struck me, other then Bush was by far the most sensible (and that's a sentence I never thought I would say) is again the difference in UK and U.S. politics. Between them, we had remarks said along the lines of 'we are the best country that has EVER existed' , 'the world is never safer than when the U.S. is in charge' , 'we are the most prosperous nation that has ever existed' etc etc. Do Republicans actually believe this crap? If an MP stood up here and said it, people would just laugh.

Yes but there are only actually three candidates surely. Rubio is probably the best of a bad bunch.

I've said before that I don't like Hillary, but I think she's going to win.

She's not somebody people warm to, the opposite of Obama. People wanted to believe in Obama for the warm fuzzy feel good factor in voting for him. Clinton? She's just unlikeable.

I understand that Loh - but over here they just wouldn't say it because of the reaction. In the U.S. Republican Party it is quite obviously seen as totally reasonable sentiment.

Put Hilary up against Trump or Cruz and she wins easily. It may be more of a fight if the GOP settles on a less mental nominee (Rubio probably) but even then I'm fairly convinced we'll be seeing President Clinton II being inaugurated next January.

It's not so much the 'America is the greatest country on earth' bit. It's been taken one stage further to 'America is the greatest country that has EVER been on earth'.

Sanders is an interesting conundrum, as he is quite old, a socialist ( which equates to your average American as a goddamn commie!) and he would also be the first Jewish Presidential nominee, yet he is very popular with the young and he doesn't come from a dynastical family I.e Clinton and Bush. Americans do and Republicans especially do believe that crap! What people in the rest of the world don't realize the majority of US citizens don't have a passport and only a minority have ever travelled out of the country. The Republicans are pandering to Bubba and co , who have never travelled out of their own state let alone out of the country.

I like him (and I wouldn't even really class him as a socialist to be honest - he appears to be more about redistribution of private ownership rather than public ownership).
