Monk on sky's goals on Sunday 10.30am on 16:07 - Feb 7 with 1115 views | exiledclaseboy | So Monk captained the team we all apparently support in all four divisions and managed us to eighth in the Premier League and he's not a club legend because it went wrong at the end and he was (rightly) sacked? Lucky we're not short termist as fans isn't it.

Monk on sky's goals on Sunday 10.30am on 15:55 - Feb 7 by Wingstandwood | Yes indeed, Monk was a good loyal pro for SCFC and was a player in a day and age when many other players were nothing but complete and utter wasters for their clubs despite being blessed with God given talents e.g. Leon Knight etc.......But!...........Lets not forget Monk was lucky to have SCFC also! He got well paid to play for a upcoming club that had a remarkable rise through the divisions whilst sharing some exhilarating career experiences and games along the way. If he had the bad-luck of going to another (the wrong!) club or two he might now be a vastly poorer semi-anonymous journeyman minus any Premier League experience(s). BTW I and most sensible supporters?.....Were glad to see him sacked because SCFC were in freefall!.......Please do not over-hype Monk and call him a SCFC club legend i.e. Alan Curtis, Ivor Allchurch etc are SCFC legends |
I will agree with y about the naming of Garry as a legend as Curt, Ivor and Harry Griffiths to name a few but he doesn't deserve a lot of the venom and stuff he receives on here. A great club servant as a player and the manager who took us to our highest PL finish. Lost his way and started dismantling our football philosophy and the deservedly sacked ......still doesn't deserve the cr*p he gets on here

Openly said he didn't want promotion under Sousa, played a big part in Laudrups downfall and split in the changing room if reports are correct. No one can take away his success in his first full season in charge, but there were alarm bells even then, took away the style of play which bought us big success over the years, an "identity" as Rodgers would like to call it. Alienated Leon which is farical especially with his performances at the moment. The board wielding the axe without anyone else lined up shows how bad it must have been behind the scenes. He can be the biggest c^nt on the planet for all I care but his time at the Swansa makes him a legend. You just dislike him so much you aren't able to separate the two you remind me of perchrockjack.

We all have different opinions and I respect a difference of opinion!.......... But my criteria/benchmark for 'legend' status is?........ When a player is deemed as being considerably gifted or considered worthy of having a statue e.g. Ivor Allchurch, a memorial bust e.g. Robbie james, or having a stand/bar named after them e.g. Harry Griffiths Bar. And yeah..... Years (decades!) after they left SCFC. Do you think that if in 10-20 years time someone proposed the renaming of The East Stand to The Garry Monk Stand he/she themselves be will seen you as some kind of idiot? With added outrage from some e.g. "Why has Alan Curtis been ignored" etc?

He doesn't deserve to have a stand named after him but how many do? How many stands are there in the Football League named after ex-players? He's definitely a legend of Swansea City.

Rose tinted specs? Listen mate he matters to me as much as every other ex-player and believe me that's not much. You don't play here for a decade, captain the club through all four divisions, lift trophies and not be a club legend. People don't like him and they can't put it aside

How am I like Perchie? I never liked the appointment and how it was done. It's not that I don't like GM, I've never met him, just didn't like the mess he has left us in. This side should not be struggling.

Coz Perch can't seperate bring a cock from being a good player either. So the last few months delete all the previous years then? WTF?
