Wow!!

Thought he's at least deny it for the sake of his career - obviously got him bang to rights

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Yes I understand that Lis but the minute he pleaded guilty yesterday I'd have expected the people upstairs to give him the bullet.

Oh I agree - I just can't believe Allardyce today.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt here and assume that Sunderland's legal people told him he had to be very careful what he said, but in his press conference Allardyce when asked about whether Johnson would be available for the rest of the season stated that he wasn't sure about his availability after this weekend so couldn't answer!!

An answer along the lines of ''he will never play for any team for as long as I am at this club as I believe his admitted behaviour to be utterly abhorrent and way beyond anything that is acceptable in our society and I am not prepared condone it in any way, shape or form for the sake of a game of football' would have been nice.

That would imply a grain of morality.

Football is morally bankrupt.

Good - in which case I was right to give Allardyce the benefit of the doubt as he was obviously just told to say as little as possible while this was going on.

I'm genuinely pleased that is the case.

Probably realised he'll be inside for the rest of his contract so they might as well save some dosh.

Moral fibre! They've been selecting him for months, I hope we wouldn't have someone near the match day squad if they were accused of this.

Although in some ways I couldn't agree more and would feel sick if it was one of ours, on the other hand he swore blind until yesterday he was completely innocent of all charges in which case you have to have the presumption that he's telling the truth until otherwise proven.

If they have any real decency they'll lie down quietly and do their penance in the championship.

Let me declare in my best Adam Johnson voice that I have no vested interest whatsoever here.

Innocent until proven (or pleading) guilty.

I'd like to think we'd have stuck by one of our players until that stage

Accused means nothing really does it? I thought one was innocent until proven guilty. He has only just admitted to certain of the offences for which he was being investigated so the picture has only changed in the last day or so surely.
He deserves all he gets from hereon in though.

We shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush you know!

Agreed but the moment he pleaded guilty he had to have that contract terminated

Think Sunderland have played this one right all along

Would any of you be happy for a family member to be seen by a doctor that's been accused of this?
They would've been suspended immediately.
I do hope Sunderland have some financial recourse against him for fees paid. They should certainly suspend any transfer payments due to Man City

Call me cynical but did he plead guilty to these charges so denying actual penetration looks more convincing and gives him a better chance of getting off? If he'd denied everything and been found guilty of grooming and touching no-one would believe he hadn't had sex either.

At first I felt sorry for him thinking he'd met the girl in a nightclub who looked older than her true age. As that appears not to be the case and he's admitted grooming and knowing how old she was he deserves everything he gets.
