I very much doubt that.

Anyways, on to happier things. Just wanted to say good afternoon to Trampie/Wingstandwood (whichever account he is signing into today). Not many of your predictions came true last night, Trampie. Did the sheep/donkey Labour voters let you down again? Given that far more young people are joining Labour than Plaid or the Greens, have these donkeys produced younger donkeys (foals) who vote like they parents do?

Looks like Welsh independence isn't going to happen for a few more years ;)

For the last time Trampie is Trampie, I believe Wingstandwood is living in the Gower constituency, he has been telling the board some very interesting things about the campaigning of various parties.
Trampie is a valley commando living in the Garden of Wales and Trampie has never seen a politician in his entire life either up the valleys or in the Garden of Wales.

This is what Trampie wrote at 09.00 o'clock touch yesterday morning:-

''Voting for the home team 'Plaid Cymru' today x 3

Hoping they can sneek second place in the final analysis but the polls have it really close for second between Plaid and the Conservatives, would not be surprised if the Blue Tories take second as shy Conservatives apparently often don't like to admit that they vote Conservative.

Best result for Plaid would be to scrape second with Labour not only short of a majority but Labour and the Lib-Dems combined short of a majority.

If Plaid achieve second I expect Leanne Wood to stay as leader, if not it might well be a case of step forward Mr Adam Price [although there would be other candidates with a claim]. ''

More or less smack on the button.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Fracking is not safe so excellent idea to ban it. Frack off.

Wonderful example of groupthink (rounded off by a less than original invective). I bet you were also against GM foods and nuclear energy, but all for windfarms, solar panels, and every other half-arsed green cause. Why? Because people of similar political views are against them - it's the perceived wisdom innit? If you'd been around in an earlier age you'd have wanted a man with a red flag walking in front of every motor car - definitely not safe.

I live in London so won't be voting in the Welsh Assembly elections. Fascinated to see that Plaid have the lion's share of the votes in the poll at the top of this thread. That would be the same Plaid Cymru that wants to put a total ban on fracking in Wales, even though it is estimated that in the old coal mining areas of Wales, the value of the shale gas residing there is about £70bn - roughly double Wales' GDP.. But what value the odd billion quid, compared to the opportunity to show off your green credentials to the world? We don't need the money do we? Nah,

Both Plaid and Labour want to reinvent the 70s in Wales: lots of corporatist state-led investment creating lots of highly unionised manufacturing companies, despite all the evidence that it never works. What a choice. What a shower.

Safety aside, how will fracking financially benefit Welsh residents? The shale gas extracted will only benefit the private company (Cuadrilla or the like) that extracts it, plus their shareholders. It's how neo-liberalism works. 'We don't need the money do we?' Well we'll see f*ck all of it anyway. Oh wait, I forgot the nominal fee (bribe) the companies will throw individual Councils for the fracking licenses. Tell me if I'm missing something.

And that's discounting safety concerns.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

Try again.

Ola from cloudy Majorca. Election results very good although hoped for better. Didn't Leanne do brilliantly.

I'll be making a list of all the promised/suggested investments around Swansea mentioned by Labour in their efforts to win when I get home. If/when they go back on those plans (you never know, they may actually do what they say this time) I'll be writing again to the EP to remind people who were swayed to vote Labour by those statements that their vote was stolen. I'll also be saying the same thing directly to people like Mike Hedges.

Hopefully many others will be doing similar.

Keep it up.......Good work you're doing.......You've got my utmost respect! The Labour bunch will always put the party before the lives of people of SW Wales preferring opera houses before cancer facilities etc. That's how utterly despicable, self serving and useless they (Labour) are.

If the blameless and dedicated guy in the story did not selflessly resign order to protect his patients? SW Wales cancer patients could very well still be saddled sub-standard facilities. Thankfully because of his actions Labour were forced to act, shameful isn't it? Where were our A.M's and M.P's? Labour wasted years....... spending time, money and effort concentrating solely on Cardiff Bay! Oh and if someone wants to stick for Labour?....

.Go ahead I have a close family relative working on the specialised oncology team and I'll counter whatever you say.

Wow, you've made some pretty disingenuous posts on this site, but that one takes the biscuit.

1) the article you link is from 2006
2) the professor who "selflessly resigned in order to protect his patients", and took up a post in England, became the Professor of Cancer Studies and Chief of Service for Medical Oncology at Imperial College. Adds a bit of context, don't you think?
3) Wales spends more than half the budget on the NHS, a higher proportion than any other devolved government (although we are still underfunded under the current formula)

"Go ahead I have a close family relative working on the specialised oncology team and I'll counter whatever you say"

- You have the debating etiquette of a five year old. So what you know someone on an oncology team? You think there aren't Labour members/supporters who work in the NHS?

But of course you can always try a desperate tactic or two of last resort i.e. saying its a pack of lies, rubbishing the factual content or personally attacking the person whom posted a link!

So the first act of the caring sharing new vision for Wales socialists of Plaid is to get together with the conservatives and UKIP to create chaos then.

Well done, you pack of self serving pathetic little drones. That's definitely a reflection of what the 'People of Wales' want - a leader that would have to be propped up by bloody UKIP.

All those who see Leanne Wood as out for anything other than her own personal ambition hang your heads in utter shame.

Edited to add - well done Kirsty Williams for stating that she doesnt believe that her role in the Welsh Government is to support a rag tag coalition that includes UKIP - shame that the leader of Wales' national party doesn't share your conscience. That's what actual desire to serve the Welsh public rather than yourself looks like.

Leanne Wood's new dawn in Wales is to do a deal with UKIP and the Tories then. Meanwhile, we have an impending referendum on the future of Europe and our Steel industry is in crisis.

Leanne Wood, propped up by a liar and a cheat!

Thank god Kirsty has done the decent thing.

Exactly right.

Absolutely pathetic.

I am absolutely no fan of Welsh Labour at all, but for Plaid to try to form a minority government propped up by UKIP is genuinely shocking.

You watch them wriggle around now - no deals, no discussions, etc etc. Well how do you expect to form a government then if you're not going to rely on UKIP you massive massive liars.

Kirsty Williams has acted with honour and I genuinely hope that does not go unnoticed by the Welsh public.

She's got class and integrity. The assembly is a better place with Kirsty and her increased majority. If I were her I'd be taking a shopping list to Carwyn when Plaid eventually back down.

Plaid are just doing it as a stunt to fire a shot across Labour's brow. Surely they don't believe Leanne Wood is about to become FM but the timing of this is atrocious. They've burned a week of time where a Welsh Government could be working.

Absolutely classless.

If Kirsty hadn't acted so responsibly then we would now have Leanne Wood trying to take charge. I have zero doubt. Naked ambition in a self serving classless politician.

Plaid need to grow the hell up and stop acting like a bunch of sniggering 6th formers. They'll feel really happy about this until they realise the backlash that is coming their way. They have just lost every shred of credibility in the first week of the new government. Well played Plaid.

What is desperately needed is for people common sense of non-Cardiff bias to take the reigns! You know?......Individuals of type that if asked what should be immediate spending priority i.e. a desperately needed car park in Morriston Hospital/a cancer scanner in Singleton Hospital as opposed to a loss making/uber-unrequired opera house in Cardiff?......Would give an obvious answer……….And we of ‘Planet-Earth’ would know what that obvious answer would be!

But but but,

Labour are red Tories and Plaid are the real left wing party. The political compass says so. Everyone knows mun.

Maybe they can use this opportunity to explain how they are going to address the funding balance like they didn't during the election campaign?

Your party has just lost any possible shred of credibility they had to the naked ambition of a third rate politician.

You are wrong on the opera house and if you could remove that massive chip from your shoulder you could possibly recognise that.

To plagiarise Churchill, if we don't spend on the things that make Wales world class, like our music and our culture, what are we bothering to keep everyone alive in the first place?

We spend more in Wales on the NHS than every other part of the UK. But it is never ending - there is always another machine that can be bought. If they didn't waste so much money on nonsense like free prescriptions for the middle classes, or free bananas in school, then we could spend money on the things you mention.

I agree about the Cardiff bias - I was thrilled to see Plaid change that by launching their manifesto from the Cardiff City Stadium.

But don't for one second pretend that trying to get together with UKIP is anything other than bloody disgraceful.
