Hmmmmm. Gomis has a personal coach 22:02 - Apr 28 with 2198 viewsDavillin

Fabien Richard is Gomis' "personal coach" according to an article in The Evening Post [scratching head, muttering to myself].

I don't actually feel sorry for the lad because he probably earns twice as much in a week than i do in a year. But it's a bit harsh on him. He spent the summer in a health centre to get himself in the best possible shape, he is making every effort he possibly can. But the bottom line is, he isn't good enough for the premier league. Not his fault, but the people who thought he was, and gave him a big fat signing on fee and contract to go with it.

Ye and he scored that explosive goal against Man City with a beach ball. Fact is the guy has talent, just not enough to perform on a consistent level in this league.

Newcastle or Sunderland depending on who goes down should buy him - or cardiff. He'd score like a high octane rabbit in the lower leagues.

Sure it’s not a personal couch? Which he takes onto the field with him and plonks down behind the last defender.

We could have Messi centre forward at moment, and with our slow build up and lack of quality crosses even he'd struggle to score.

Hmm yes, Messi really thrives on quality crosses at Barca.

Bottom line for me is that gomis is a duffer.

We all know it and can all see it, but I don't think he wants to be not up to it, he just can't quite cut it at prem level .

To pay a 30 yr old 65k a week with no proven record other than in France was IMO bit of a risk, the other thing that I think we all noted was that he just didn't fit our style of play, can't hold it and bring others into the game at all, though he has improved .

It's not the player more the people that thought he was worth the signing on and high wages.

We have been a little bit more successful with ayew but nothing spectacular there either, hopefully we will earn enough from him mask the failings and cover money on gomis, because I can't see him going anywhere unless somebody is either desperate or stupid. (Gomis)

Didn't bafa pull a move to the desert at the start of the season because of a small print problem with his money? It's gonna hard to shift him IMO

You say that but his game is best suited to other European countries where the tempo is a tad slower.

It's just the internet, init.

Whilst Gomis has talent he's not consistent as other people have said. His biggest problem is that when it's not going for him he tends to give up, whereas you look at Paloschi, who probably isn't as naturally talented as a number 9, and he does not give up all game.

Wouldn't argue with that, though you would think this would be something the club would've known!

As said by another poster, its not really Gomis fault, he isn't maybe up to a long tough season with defenders that are built like brick buildings.

Even seeing him on you tube before seeing him in a swans shirt i wondered how he would fit us,or if he would work, seems i did more research than those who signed him!

I think he would have fitted better in Laudrups team, just seems the deal wasnt thought through and because he was "free" that was enough .

And the standard is lower.

He is capable of moments of brilliance, but on the whole he just isn't good enough. People can blame the midfield, but the route cause of Gomis being ineffective is that he is out of his depth.

Didn't Gomis bring his own coach too ?

Says a lot about our club that our players feel that they need to supplement their training to provide greater personal focus. Even Big Sam has moved on in that area...
