My mrs works in Singleton so it would be a great car share. There were a couple of IT jobs that came up recently but they use a system that they wanted experience of and you really had to work there to get experience of it.

Ignore what they ask for in ads. Transferable skills on the cv, learn very quickly yada yada. I've blagged loads of jobs when I've not had the 'skilz' in the advert. Remember that HR write the adverts and they are universally shit. Convince them in your cover letter that they really need to interview you.

To the OP - I'm sure you already know this but if you are talking about constructive dismissal it's really important not to stay in post for any length of time which can be seen as tacitly accepting and agreeing to the change in your circumstances which makes constructive hard to win.

Good luck with your job hunt!

Thanks Lisa,
this is a situation that has mushroomed all because my manager has moved the goalposts on annual leave application.
I feel I am being victimised under thecircumstances. Indeed tonight he phoned me up and mentioned that HR had phoned him and he was not happy about it.
Surely, again, this is some form of bullying?

Word of kind advice recruitment consultants are like estate agents (kunts), its a selling game to them and you are just a pawn.
They promise the earth and deliver naff all most of the time and their focus is on the employer, which is were their money comes from. Everytime they put you forward they put at least 2/3 other candidates forward, so they win either way.
Don't believe the bollux they feed, they say the same to all candidates. Its thier own launguage of shite.
Get your CV up to date using SMART techniques and try to contact companies directly, thats what the recruiters do, then mask the company profile in most cases and cash the sale.
My last advice would be to look further away, if you can, not many well paid jobs in Swansea sadly.

Good luck!

Yes, but at the same time there has to be evidence that a tribunal can seriously consider. In other words don't quit on a whim . Get harassment down in a diary and keep emails etc etc

When I'm in the need I hit up the general sites, mainly because there's a lot of smaller companies looking for Tech work, but don't know where to look. Usually do a good quick in and then you can explore better. Granted Los Angeles is a much bigger city than Swansea.

Though if I was going for a quick in, I've often thought about getting into data entry. they pay loads out here in the US, not sure what the wage packets look like out there though.

Darr,
basically I pick up daughter from child minder at 6 pm on a Friday. I finished a job in Cardiff at 4 and was in Cardiff bay dropping off a refurbished printer. Another call was passed to me and I said that I would try and get there (Pentwyn) but I knew that traffic may be heavy so I might have to drop part at site if needed. I drove up there and it was 16:50 and I was 5 minutes from site. I phoned office to say that I wouldn't have time to complete as with this hardware replacement you also have to rebuild software and did they want me to drop off part. They said OK but I had to phone manager to advise I wasn't go to be able to do my last call. I phoned him and then it started. He said I hadn't been productive enough on this day and that I had to go to the call as we didn't have start and finish times as field engineers. I said yes we did but most importantly, I was east of Cardiff and had just over an hour to get to the childminders to collect. He said that was my problem and that I should make alternative arrangements. I said that was pretty much impossible and this has been a long standing arrangement that he was well aware of. He said that didn't matter. I said that if I just put it in place and my colleague who lives 2 minutes from this site was travelling back and could finish the software and he flatly refused. He said that I couldn't say no as I would be refusing a management instruction.
There was more but at this time I told him I was going to HR.
He said fine do it.
I phoned them up they went straight to see him.
I have now said I do not want to work with him as it is intolerable.

Cardiff.

Thats the answer, i moved here 5 months ago and have been spoilt for choice when it comes to finding work. Literally don't work in Swansea its an occupational hazard , 20 people fighting over 1 job or 5 employers fighting over you.

We have the Cardiff assembly government and everything , cost of living low , transport excellent, hubs, so much help always available , if you cant beat em join em

How long have you worked for them ?
Sounds like a good case for constructive dismissal, however minimum working periods often have a big input on the outcome.
Also whether your contract is written or implied, and what is common practice both in your company and in the field generally.
Another factor is how long your current childcare arrangements have been in place - a couple of weeks is really a temporary arrangement; several months or a cyear or two is implied as part of your working contract.
Obviously if you are in a union they are the first port of call, but if not then get in touch with a solicitor who deals with employment law.
All the best anyway - I hope you succeed.

I have a written contract that says I should give 30 minutes travel time that means that as I finish at 5:30 then 6 is my "home time which is why my childcare arrangement is for 6.
This arrangement has been in place for at least 5 years on a Tuesday and a Friday and the reason that when I am on my week of late starts I am exempt on Tuesday and Friday and my manager is well aware of this.

I am a member of a union though my company is not unionised.

I have an interview with another company in one week and I am now in a catch 22 situation.

I would, at this point, not go into work as it is intolerable and the relationship with my manager has it a low point but I do not want this to affect my chance in the job that I have applied for.
