England squad 14:31 - May 31 with 2790 viewsHighjack

Looks like old "big club" Woy has picked jack wilshere who has played 4 minutes of football in the last 47 years over drink water who has played well all season and barely missed a game. Sends a big message out that form or ability doesn't matter, it's your media profile will get you picked for England.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

None in either list are true international quality. It's no wonder England are generally quarter final fodder everywhere except in their own heads.

(just to cover my crack, Greece proved that a non international quality team can win something by the law of averages, so if Engertoss do miraculously win, that'll be why.)

Greece had some top players in 2004..

Antonios Nikopolidis.. the best goalkeeper Greece have ever produced
Nikos Dabizas.. solid defender
Traianos Dellas.. incredible leading attributes
Angeles Basinas.. he was superb
Stelios Giannakopoulos.. Bolton legend.. Top draw attitude
Angelos Charisteas.. helped Werder Bremen to the title
Karagounis.. he was in his prime.

This was the Greek golden generation.. managed by Otto Rehhagel.. the underdog specialist.. even before the tournament.. I thought the Greeks had a top class back line

The awkward moment when a Welsh Club become the Champions of England.. shh The Swansea Way.. To upset the odds.

Wilshire has played three times this season, Drinkwater has had a fantastic consistent season, he played the qualifying games the season before, wouldn't surprise me if he breaks down before the Wales game

Sturridge is more likely to break down than Wilshire whose last 2 long term injuries have been impact injuries sustained in a tackle. Sturridge has been plagued by muscle injuries.
Whether Wilshire is a good choice because of lack of match fitness is a different thing altogether.
Hope he's picked to play against Wales & is cr@p!

Wilshire is a far better player that Drinkwater who has had one good season behind him,Wilshire has been at the top level for years and has suffered some bad injuries which has restricted him somewhat in game time, correct decision by Roy.

I think this thread proves there is more interest and passion about the English team and how they do in Euro 2016 than our very own Welsh side.

agreed, but England certainly do no play the possession game, retaining the ball has always been their weak link

Which is, why he is taking Wilshire.

No shortage of England midfielders prepared to run all day. Wilshire is the only one capable of passing a ball with a better than even chance of it finding a team mate.

Roy is right to gamble on his fitness it's also right for us to take Ledley

We are playing them you know?

What?
I'm interested in Ash & Tayls & Lukasz & Siggy, not that over-rated, injury-prone, chain-smoking excuse for a footballer, Wilshire.
