Same here! In Dunvant Junior school our assemblies had a massive Welsh infuence, from the hymns we'd sing to the "Ein Tad" we would say as our closing prayer. This was in the mid seventies.

I remember singing that in Primary School too I'm 51 but it seems to have 'petered out' in more recent years.

My two sons who have gone through Welsh language education in Swansea do not recognise it yet I remember singing it at school assembly in an Englush speaking primary school in Swansea back in the 1970's !

Mystifying a bit ?

Innit? Strange indeed. But I suppose the secularisation of schools has changed things beynd recognition from our times in primary.

I was in Dunvant Junior school from 74 - 77. Mrs Watkins, the crazy RSPCA lady, Miss Davies, Mrs Bevan and Dai Morgan.

When I was in Penlan comp in the 70's we had to sing in assembly every week my kids don't believe me, I'm sure. It's Myfanwy for me, too.

Bradley, the name rings a bell, thought it was Watkins though, she used to be in the demountable on its own in the top corner of the playground, Christ that was over 40 years ago. Definite RSPCA devotee though. Bob Taylor, Mr Lewis the science teacher, can't for the life of me remember the head teacher though.

Mrs Watkins used to be in the "tin shack" and Mrs Millis was in the demountable in the top yard, Mr griffiths in the the demountable sort of in between the two yards. There was another class in the tin shack as well, maybe that was Bradley?

Yes, isn't Welsh a beautiful language? Yet, some people want to get rid of it.

Ive just picked this thread up and my missus asked what s it in English.

I've just advised her.

It's an old American hymn picked up by Welsh musicians and put to Welsh words.

The main feature is the melody and in the quality and timbre of the voices.

Love divine ,for example, is just as moving when sung by a Welsh choir in the English language.

Even in song, in beautiful verse ,full of resonance that brings hiraeth to the exile some see the need to bitch. It's quite poor roger and you need to drag yourself away from the hate of the thread killer.

I was pretty emotional listening to that but you have soured the day for me .
