And of course we wouldn't have spoken with Joes agent.

I think that they are banking on Joe & his missus would rather come here than go to Stoke.
But who knows for sure, they may just be saying what they we want to hear.

What happened to out of contract Tom Carroll, wouldn't he be better option younger and cheaper.

No, because he is nowhere near as good. Will probably end up at Nottingham Forest or somewhere similar. No point signing players that don't improve us.

So if we are interested and don't want Stoke to pounce, then what the bloody hell are waiting for?! Just do the deal already... sick of us fumbling around in the transfer market

We'll live, whatever happens. Way overpriced on euromania.

I'd like to have him here but the mythology around him is getting silly. He's not 'the welsh Pirlo/Xavi'. He's a tidy player that finds space and provides links a little less well than Leon Britton.

We've bought a well known Aussie 'keeper (to his immediate family) and someone who sounds like a Dutch porn star. For TWO million.

There's just no pleasing some people....

A lot of the insistence that we simply must have him is absolutely because of who he is, not because we particularly need a player like him. A lot of hearts are ruling heads on the topic.

He'd be an improvement on what we have, but we've got much more pressing needs at present.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Did we pay two million....lmao.....then we play Tremmel in a friendly.

Can only imagine Fabianski or Nordfeldt has been eyeing up the exit door.

The £2m was for The Horn.

We probably insisted the Aussie 'keeper came by bus to save a few quid. He'll be arriving any day now.

No, no and no, Joey is a far far superior player to Tom Carroll, in fact he couldn't lace his boots.

I think that's wrong Max, Carroll now is much much better than he was when he was with us. Definitely in the JA mould though. In fact when I watched him play for spurs last year I though he was almost identical to Joe in the way he played.

And he has our favourite quality in a player - he's cheap.

Just sign Joey FFS

So out of Britton, Fer, Cork, Ki, Fulton, King, Allen/Carroll/A.N. Other signing, how many centre midfield players do we really need?

As good a player as he is I can't believe we will spend £13m, or even £10m, to get him back.

Where does he play? He's no CDM, we have Cork and Leon for that position anyway, and we have KI and Fer for the CM position, both of whom are more likely to score goals than Joe.

I like Joe as a player a lot, but IMO we have to prioritise bringing in players who can score goals in the Premier League as we have very few (Gylfi and Ayew) who are capable of scoring regularly, and Joe, for all his qualities, won't do that, his assists record isn't that good either.

You could argue that we bomb KI and buy Joe instead, and yes, there is the Welsh V South Korea factor to consider in terms of who will be at the club for longer but the fact remains that KI has an 8 goal Prem season on his CV and I would be amazed if Joe ever got close to that. If I was FG I would be intent on getting the best out of KI rather than selling him and buying Joe for more.

For me, the money would be better spent on other areas of the team.

And I'll be amazed if ki ever score 8 PL goals (for us) again.

It's not about goals or assists with Joe either, it's about getting our quick passing game going again.

With quick ball Montero will be the player he's supposed to be and increase his goals and assists tally. Same for Barrow, Routledge , Gylfi, Ayew and our mystery new strikers.

This us the reason why watching monk ball was so tedious, our speed of attack was non existent!

Ki is a goner I reckon and the youngsters, at least one will be loaned out. Fer and Allen are great opposites for the same box to box position. Joey passes the ball quickly but if we need a more physical option who has skill and can pass well but more importantly carry the ball forward well (something we've missed for a couple of seasons now ) then Fer is your man.

If this comes off Guidolin will have a nice balance of midfielders to mix and match with.

Depends on our budget.

If we are not prepared to buy Joe at that price they will need to come out and say it. All this considering a bid stuff is going to do is wind people up ahead of the season.

To be honest, my view is that the fee is getting too much and if Jenkins and co were in charge then it would be dead in the water, could still be!!

The new guys said their main priority is the team and they want to make a splash in the transfer market, this is a perfect opportunity for them.

We have sufficient midfielders already, and the fee for Joe is too much, lets bring back Bony as we are short in the striker position.

There's bound to be an opportunity cost, whatever the budget.

I agree though, if we are looking to spend and the choice is don't spend it or spend it, then Joe adds to our options and, just as importantly after last years abortions, we'd know what we were getting.

£13m for a midfielder who will be here for another 7 or 8 years is chicken feed IMO

As i mentioned earlier, lets strengthen where we are weak, and then add on if we need too.
