At first when i heard this i thought that it would be a good signing

BUT

31yr old and a 3yr contract. A loan for 12months would suffice.

Wecwont get him then though.
Bang in 10 to 15 next season and there will be plenty of interest sign him up.

Depends on the price, if we get him cheap and it goes on wages we have previous.

Very much a FIFA fanboy style signing, not saying i'm not happy with it if it goes ahead, good for moral. But, if someone put a water gun to my head and told me to choose between Llorente and Ulloa at the same price, i'd go with Ulloa. For 7 million euros, if true, this is good business.

We haven't played 2 up front since the Kenny Jackett days.

£6 million pounds.. 3 year contract.. 2 million for each year..

Bit on the pricey side.. but if he bangs them in, it's a bargain

6'5" - when was the last time we had an outfield player that size?

I'd imagine they'll be alternating.

On a side, someone has been a cheeky fecker and changed his current team on the Wiki to Stoke haha

Bartley must be about that height.

Before him, probably Dennis Lawrence at 6'7

Llorente is different class to Ulloa.

If we're going to buy a striker in his thirties for a short-term fix, it's a no-brainer.

Welsh name too.

According to Wiki, he plays for Swansea as a striker.

A bit previous?

Is there actually any truth in this or is it just one of those bollocks stories on Twitter?

Yes I agree one or the other.
Remember years ago getting excited about us signing Terry Connor and Jimmy Gilligan within a couple of days of each other.

So much better than Ulloa and younger than Bony ;-)

If we brought him in together with a younger striker that would be good news.

Seems like it's happening anyway - too much noise for it to be made up although I thought he had joined Sociedad - obviously not.

Edited to add - great player for McBurnie to learn from.

Very Experienced player with a lot of miles and goals in those legs,if the signing is confirmed he should prove an asset and perhaps send a message to the other players in our squad that Swansea City can attract quality players.

Not quite - Kyle's listed at 6'4"

I think you're correct that we haven't had anyone at least 6'5" since Lawrence.

We very rarely have anyone over 6 foot, and that includes keepers.

*Forgot to quote Warwick re Llorente being a different class to Ulloa

Right now, I don't think he is. 2 -3 years ago maybe I'd completely agree with you. Don't get me wrong, i'd be happy with it, especially if cheaper than Ulloa

he's actually not too dissimilar to Wilf.

plays well with his back to the goal, instinctive finisher, brings players into the attack.

he thrived at Bilbao under Bielsa, so he's clearly not a "slow" player, even if he's a little past his prime.

Guidolins obviously identified the characteristics of a big, strong target man to lead the line for us this year. Llorente is a gamble, but it may pay off if he can recover any sort of Bilbao or even juve form. I think he was used sparringly last year at Sevilla.
