What an Olympics. We are now 2nd in the medals table ahead of China.

That's our country of 65m people ahead of a nation with 1.357 billion!

Poll: Who do you want as next Manager?

If only there was a 16 page Olympic thread that you could have posted that in.

And what is good Phaedrus, and what is not good. Need we ask anyone to tell us these things?

There is no medal table. No one nation can win the Olympics. Not recognised by the IOC.

2 Golds and 5 Silvers for Wales. Although the 2 Golds and one of the Silvers are in team events. So just the 4 Silvers really. Beating the Irish which is what's important for me so I can wind up the Mrs. Did have to take the English pound to do it, as she will no doubt remind me.

I think Irelands superstar is going today ?, a win will guarantee a medal.
Been Olympic, World, European champ, been a flag bearer etc but just failed to win a 6th World title in a row this year, Ireland will probably go potty if she can win Gold again.

Is that Katie Taylor, don't really follow the boxing, although I know thats where the Irish get their medals. New superstars are the O'Donovan brothers, pair of legends right there.

Just looked up the medals per capita, Wales would be 5th.

She is a football international as well as boxing star, she is Irish royalty [yes I know] but that would be the only way to describe her, Beckham and the Queen rolled into one. lol.

Because Katie has been so unbeatable for years the photo's of her two recent defeats are classics, the shock, disbelief, joy, disappointment on the boxers faces as the ref holds up the winners hand reminds me of the great 'super Joe Calzaghe' and the 'Barry Bomber' fighting for the Welsh title, the Barry Bomber on his knees with the ref trying to hold his arm up and super Joe looking on in shock and disbelief, that tells you how good Calzaghe was and how good Katie Taylor is, they are so close to unbeatable that if they lose and they can go years and years without losing nobody can believe it including the boxers involved.

Women fighting is an absolutely revolting prospect. How on earth that could be regarded as sport is beyond me.

Mother time might be catching up with her, I wonder if she will go on ?, she has turned 30 and won something like 5 Worlds, multiple European titles and an Olympics.
Haven't seen the bout but the score is being reported as 39-37 Ireland, 39-37 Finland and 38-38 draw with the judges giving the nod to Finland.

WHy isi it called Team GB? Are Northern Ireland not allowed to compete with us?

And why is everybody creaming themselves over medals? I thought the Olympic ethos was the taking part, not the winning.

The Team GB thing winds me up slightly. It is of course the UK team but Team UK probably doesn't have the same ring to it.

So are the Northern Irish kicking up a fuss about it. If so, I've not heard anything. And if not, why should we care? They probably feel they are included anyway just like everyone knows that Wales is part of the UK even if the flag doesn't portray that!

No arguments with you mate. Just expressing my not very strongly held opinion. It's not causing me to lose sleep or anything.

And besides, any NI athletes who object to being part of Team GB are likely to opt to compete for Ireland anyway.
