Ystradgynlais is very nice indeed, I'd recommend you call in next time you're passing. Especially with all the flowers outside the local shops, there are a couple of nice coffee shops that you can sit outside (weather permitting) and ample and easy parking in the large car park, and it's all on the flat.
The villagers and council do take pride in where they live unlike the sh*te hole a little lower down the valley. |  |

Yes, Ystradgynlais is well tidy. Just at the foot of the Brecon Beacons too. Lovely countyside. Property cheap as chips (relatively).
And they've got the Welfare - used to be the Miners Welfare Hall. Now shows films, beams stuff from that London, RSC, Old Vic etc. Ridiculously cheap prices. And you can take a drink in from the bar if you're so inclined.
