Terra Siciliana on 17:11 - Aug 28 by waynekerr55 | Of course not, where did I say that? They're certainly nabbing custom from all of the big supermarkets including Waitrose and Marks. Plenty of punters from Berkhamstead and St Albans making their way to Aldi. |
Cheaper see. As Perch said above, those with money to burn are sometimes among the most likely to want to spend as little of it as they can.

I hand to say I hate both Lidl and Aldi and wild horses wouldn't get me in either of them.

Terra Siciliana on 17:19 - Aug 28 with 798 views | perchrockjack | No mon, trains women whom etc . Aldi and Lidl especially DO have fine wines in regular stock thst are rated as excellent by serious wine judges . They often come first in blind tastings. It's why those who choose to shop in aldi Lidl are often shrewder than those who go to sainsbury or tesco for some overpriced tat. Snobbery is often the domain of the poorer .

I don't like the layout and I like the brands I'm used to. The whole cheaper thing is mostly a myth too. And I haven't queued at a checkout since Tesco introduced scan as you shop.

Depends on your local store. We have a very big tesco where one doesn't wait long for service ,as is the case with sainsbury. The brands found in aldi are at the very least the equal and in most cases superior to tesco own brands. It is the case, for example, pickles, sauces, deli, is far better quality and the Unknown to some Italian anti paste is stunning. Both Lidl and aldi meat and fish is excellent. What lets aldi down is its fresh fruit. Sometimes, the camping, fishing, cycling ,tools offers thst come along as staggering value. It's also the case that brands thst we are used to can be changed in an instant. Eg, I like drinking chocolate . choceur in aldi is half the price of Cadbury highlights. Just as nice. The continental chocolate selection is superb quality 70per cent cocoa.

Terra Siciliana on 17:44 - Aug 28 with 749 views | perchrockjack | Indeed. We re blessed here with a variety of large stores but frankly we prefer to shop locally and buy fresh farm eggs, veg and meat when available. When a local butcher closes ,it makes me very sad

Horses for courses I suppose. I've definitely noticed a difference and we've got Sainsburys and Asda literally one minute down the road. I tried the scan thing in Tesco and by the time the store assistant had re scanned it took just as long. Having a Costco close also really helps.

Terra Siciliana on 17:52 - Aug 28 with 729 views | perchrockjack | Funnily enough,I'm aware of that but my folks just use aldi in cwmdu. It's the high point of their week. He drives there...at 92. Mad as a hatter . Driving through penclawdd it was nice to see butchers flogging salt marsh lamb.

Why did they have to re-scan it? The most I've had is that they scan a small selection of items as a random check. Takes seconds.

If you're concerned that he's still driving there are steps you can take. [Post edited 28 Aug 2016 19:25]

I'm not saying you should but you can if you want. I haven't seen him driving but as you said, the prospect of him injuring themselves or someone else isn't good. Anyway, none of my business, just wanted to say that there are things you can do if you wanted to.

Terra Siciliana on 14:17 - Aug 28 by perchrockjack | Bargain booze and perch do not blend well. I d actually cross the road to avoid passing them as the punters seem very common. None in our village anyway. |
Btw I called into Bargain Booze last night out of curiosity,it was in my home town first time I been in there. It was alright surprisingly....they even had a Subway franchise at the back of the store. Not a pisshead in sight I may add. Found some cans of Breaker American malt lager which I love and it's rare to find these days. Also bought some Cherry B and 4 bottles of Snowball £2.99 each. Great for those of you thinking of holding a 70s theme night.
