Red Tories should be expelled from the Labour party 13:43 - Sep 24 with 4045 views | trampie | All Red Tories should be expelled from the Labour party which means most of their MP's should be expelled along with the right wingers that have infiltrated the party over the decades. If they don't expel the Red Tories and continue with their right wing policies then Labour should change their name to the 'New Conservative' party as to not confuse the public that have limited interest in politics.

Irony is I'd have thought the SJWs would have picked up on the "lynch" comment. The problem Labour have is they are preaching to the converted. Wiped out in Scotland, they've done and said absolutely nothing that would convince current Tory voters to leave and go to Labour en masse.

Didn't a well paid union leader live in a council house, hmm? But increasing the deficit will be pretty dumb, eh? Oh wait. I forgot the Magic Socialist Money Tree. Beats magic beans I suppose. Red Tories should be expelled from the Labour party on 16:17 - Sep 26 by perchrockjack | My hatred of Corbin and his ilk clearly have their genesis in the late seventies. I d moved jp to the north west and eventually joined plod as I was in a bit of a state job wise due to the economy of the time. I was, fair to say, leftish leaning with fascist overtones but having to,more of less baby sit degsy Hatton and mulhearn changed me forever. Can't really go into details but suffice to say everything that degsy stood for, was a sham . Corbyn is saying basically what militant tendency did and it's why we were subjected to thatcher for so long. |

9bn to private landlords is a disgrace - more council housing should be provided. Equally, it's council housing not "housing as you want it". Tenants taking the piss like Bob Crow did should be dealt with... You do realise tax evasion is already illegal or are you one of those dreadful Labourites who don't know the distinction between legal avoidance and illegal evasion? McDonnell can promise free unicorns for all. Easy to do when no chance of getting elected into goverment. Wiped out in Scotland. Boundary changes. Liebore's message won't covince enough to vote for them.

Example of tax avoidance - Company makes "profit" of 100m. Company re-invests into the company, for example 20m. Makes 80m taxable. (Overly simplified example). So is that avoidance bad when it's skilling staff? The fact is, the tax system is ridiculously overly complex. It's farcical that in the course of one year I was sent four separate tax codes...

It was a simplified example... genuine abusers should be targetted. No problem with that. You can't however turn round and stigmatise companies operating legally as per tax rules as they stand. Adding another 6 pages to target one particular thing is just adding to the problem. IT world, plenty of PSCs have used offshore schemes. Fundamentally disagree with them, thankfully they are being closed. Usually of the form "company X takes all the income, gives it to you as a loan which it writes off every year". Even if it wasn't blatently ripping off tax, you'd be relying upon the company writing ff the loan. If they didn't, you're screwed... What I don't like is HMRC have powers to make it retrospective. Scheme could be legal for ages; suddenly deemed illegal, HMRC can backdate things. That just flies in the face of justice imo.

Did you check with them? Because unless there is another reason (eg, change of tax coding) that you're not disclosing for dramatic effect, it's not possible to take home less after a pay rise due to tax or NI as it's marginal.

The wife explained it to me as she's in the field. She insists it's all above board and correct but I can't pretend to understand it. Something to do with thresholds but there was no tax code change. Dramatic effect indeed. You underestimate me.

Shouldn't he be more focused on the fact that UKIP have made more gains in the Assembly than the supposed "party of Wales"? Is Neil Hamilton really more appealing than Leanne Wood? Both are hilariously inept, we know, but come on. [Post edited 27 Sep 2016 8:09]

The important thing is to not let it eat away at you. You'll end up with an ulcer.

You'd bet wrong. Only real "tax avoidance" you can point the finger at is I donate an amount of company profits to a special needs school with charitable status. Granted somewhat of self-interest involved as son does go there. Oh noes it reduces the amount of tax my company pays. The horror! PSCs that take the p*** I condemn. Mostly due to the fact it then makes it more difficult for those running legit businesses.

What Philip Green did was legal avoidance. Saying that it was his wife who 'earned' that £571 million that was taken out of BHS and claiming that she should pay no UK tax on it because she's a resident of Monaco is perfectly legal. And it is. It doesn't alter the fact that, in my opinion, he's no better than a thief. So what difference evasion and avoidance in that example. One is as morally offensive as the other. And there are, i'm certain, thousands of others doing exactly the same. The 9 billion to private landlords would be a pittance in comparison with the amount that is being 'legally' avoided in such a totally immoral way.

Total all duty free, I'd be surprised if it was less than the Phillip Green amount. Indeed, how many people pay cash in hand to get a lower bill from tradesmen? Don't see anyone complaining about tax evasion in that instance... Quite a lot of tax law changes have stemmed from widespread abuses within the building industry. Tax evasion is illegal. If you also want to stop tax avoidance, then apply that view equally. It's not just the alleged 1% indulging...

By that logic we should only attempt to curb vices that we can be sure will hold each and every transgressor. If, for example, the most frequent and most damaging corruption within the police force occurred with the Met in London, unless we can be sure to tackle the less damaging corruption in Mid-Wales, we should just leave it?
