Thank you Watford fans for respecting.

All you could hear in the family stand was the pro photographers camera click.

My sons under 8s all held a minutes silence in the morning as well. impeccably observed.

One question, was this done anywhere outside Wales today, and if not why not?

Respectfully and impeccably observed by both sets of fans. Really glad.

116 kids died. We don't need to be giving ourselves or anyone else credit for not talking for 60 seconds. It's just basic decency.

You are right it is basic decency.

It's a sad reflection of where we are as a society, that we half expect the silence not to be correctly observed..

What puzzles me is why this tragedy is only being commemorated in Wales.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Awful tragedy and brilliantly respected by the whole country.I read the other day of another mining disaster in S.Wales again back in the early 1900's.I've never heard of this before but over 500 people died on this occasion mainly miners and not children which would explain the lack of exposure this event now gets.

It absolutely should have been a UK wide silence before every game today. Shameful if it wasn't.

Slight digression, but I've always found it strange that Nobody remembers the victims of the Spanish Flu pandemic either:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic

Chances are that someone in everyone's family died from it.

Fella I used to work with found out his grandfather's first wife died of it when they were very young. He didn't even know his grandad was married before and he never spoke of it - he found it in his grandad's personal belongings after he died.

I agree, as should rememberance sunday but the reality is that in the past the silence has not been fully observed. The Gleision miners was another silence which was not fully observed. Not looking for credit just commenting that it was well done by the club and all in attendance.

Senghenydd in 1913. Britains worst mining disaster. 440 dead including miners as young as 14.

There are numerous reasons that will be hard to swallow.
The main one being it's in Wales. And England doesn't care.

Can remember being in the Tenby pub late one Saturday night in the early 80s and some Swans fans just back from Nottingham saying how they'd trashed a Forest pub & the people in it after being on the receiving end of the Aberfan chant.

I've heard both Bristol clubs do it on a number of occasions and one Orient fan, which was quite odd.

It's hard to understand what happens in some peoples minds. I include Cardiff fans in that with their Alan Davies and TC nonsense.

Yes they did. Cardiff bore the brunt mainly from that horrible chant, but I remember back in 1980 at Stamford Bridge when that chant was directed at Swans supporters.
