Sunderland are 7th and Palace up there. So would Newcastle be if they hadn't been relegated. It's not what you spend, it's what you spend it on. Surely we know that better than anyone.

Plus how much you get in. Bale puts Spurs second bottom of that table. If we'd accepted two bob for Bony (and with Jenko, who can say) we'd be up the table. Would that make people happy?

Once upon a time we'd have been proud to see us bottom of that list. Personally I still am. We've always known we've got to sell players to balance the books
