Favourite stadium you've been to? ( After the Liberty of course!!) 13:37 - Feb 20 with 6600 viewsJarvo

On the eve (plus a week) of the young swans taking on Hertha's youth team at the liberty, what's your favourite ground you've ever been to?
You can probably guess from the introduction I'm going to say Hertha Berlin's Olympastadion. Built for the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany the stadium is a two tiered bowl with one stand cut out behind the goal for an obelisk style monument. A living museum of a stadium.
Also absolutely love Charlton's The Valley! With clear patches such as the corners, which have been added later, ungracefully. The one solitary tiny 'shed' of a stand for the away supporters makes it feel like the whole massive stadium is surrounding you. As intimidating of a stadium you'll see as an away fan, even if the fans themselves are busy munching on kale and egg tarts and not in the least bit scary!
What ground do you think deserves an honourable mention?

Petrolul Ploiesti

Mini Estadi, Barcelona (when we drew 3-3 with Barcelona B)

"Petrolul Ploiesti "

Forgot to mention that one.

Best new ground I've been to. Tight with a steep rake.

Exact opposite to the awful Etihad and Emirates.

Poll: Would you like Rodgers back as the new manager ?

Watched Barca in Jan there. Been to Bernabeau too, no comparison for me Real Madrid Stadium all the way.

Spot on.

Bernabeau tour is much better than Barca's too.

Planet Swans Prediction League Winner Season 2013-14. Runner up 2014_15.

Fulham used to be lovely and also Gay meadow at Shrewsbury, but all the grounds seem very similar and lifeless these days

Ynys Park, Ton Pentre in the 1980s before much of it was condemned. Top fun and a few cheap beers.

Fenway Park, Boston was an interesting experience

Doncasters Belle Vue, I ran across it in 68 after we beat them in the cup.................it seemed never ending! lol

never mind the big stadiums I really liked Bradford PA old ground ......

Bradford Park Avenue's old ground is still there, amazingly enough. The stands have gone, though, but some of the terracing remains.

Don't know what goes on there these days. A ghostly sort of place. Some of the old stone gateways are still standing and in faded letters you can read "Entrance: 5/-" (that's 5 shillings to you young folk).

It's now overshadowed by a massive & unfinished mosque, and is at the northern end of one of Bradford's roughest estates, called Canterbury. Effin dire place to live.

I remember Nuremberg being a sombre place ... we took 5K there and I always remember seeing big Harrogate Jacks Flag there which in the eighties was quite rare.

Also remember thousands of German skin heads all over the place so everybody kept a low profile outside the ground.

The old Stoke ground

Crewe with its training ground alongside, supporters club was very welcoming, and just yards from the entrance.
A club member told me that the supporters club takings paid for the new training ground. Never going to happen at the Liberty in my lifetime.

Gay meadow left me some good memories.....old grounds full of character.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Yup. Awful ground, awful location.

Ditto for Somerton Park. One of the worst grounds I've been to.

I was going to mention Crewe. Had some great trips there back before seating was brought in. Nice compact ground, low roof that let the sound bounce around.

I really enjoyed going to see Fenerbahce at their place for a local cup semifinal- the intensity of the hard core fans on both sides was something else. Don't ask me to remember the name of the stadium though. Súkörk Syćyürkjk or something!

The Rovers fans at the Tote end made Eastville a real intimidating place along with the contant smell of gas in the air from the adjacent cylinder made that visit quite an experience.

I remember going on a supporters train to a match there from Swansea to Stapleton Road and was police escorted to the ground under a load of bricks from Gasheads. They trashed our train from the car park and on the way back through Cardiff they also bricked our train when we had a carriage of no glass in the windows and all the curtains was closed. Quite surreal now to think what supporting football involved back then.

Vetch - no reason needed!!

Valencia & Wembley - obviously

Newcastle - up in the Gods (and topless dancers with the lunchtime match lol)

Been to some nice and crap stadiums but the result influences the impression (Kiddy on the day of the Sumani 4-0, Portsmouth etc) - really liked Coventry, Peterborough (good day out 2-2) & QPR don't know why

Saw us lose 5-0 there in '86

I think we're being generous referring to it as a stadium!
