Borja 10:32 - Feb 26 with 5938 views | perchrockjack | Must be our biggest screw up We ve signed far worse but for buttons Some serious questions need to be asked as to why we paid what we did So...why did you Huw? Leaving aside the Trust crap , this is what we should be indignant about

Yes our player recruitment is awful. We're just lucky that Mawson, Siggy, Carroll, Ollson, Bony, Michu, Rangel, to mention a few, all came through our youth ranks, eh ?

Borja on 10:59 - Feb 26 with 3461 views | icecoldjack | Thought it was obvious. Panic buy after being slow in the market place waiting for the money of the Ayew sale to clear, thus the yanks arn't out of pocket, huw looks like a clever wheeler dealer and the swans end up with the last round picks of top talent. No clear thinking in terms of the player fitting a definitive style either. Same with Gomis,Ayew,Tabanou etc, etc. The scatter gun aproach to transfers that almost relegated the club, after jenkins saying that a review should take place of our policy he promptly went out and did exactly the same thing all over again, this after Bob Bradley getting appointed ahead of more qualified personell. Llorente was signed because his fee was cheap, i get the feeling that one was offered to us out of nowhere and being cheap and with Gomis,Ash and Ayew of the wage bill it was affordable. Is Borja a good player, i think he is. It's just that we should not be signing players at this level unless the coach is heavily involved, jenks can get away with the odd lower league sure bet but the top table is totally different . Shambles but we may have fluked our way out of certain oblivion due to the appointment of a coach who actually knows whats needed. but the squandering of multi millions by a builders merchant playing football manager needs to stop or scfc will pay the heaviest of prices, it may still do. The fact that we haven't been relegated since we arrived in the Premier League means that our recruitment is far from dire.

There seems a lack of logic to this post. the first line "Not bothered about other clubs just mine" implies the poster does not want to compare with other clubs. the last line "Could be the case our player recruitment is amongst the worst in the prem league, come to think of it." implies the opposite. Confused.

Exactly. All clubs make good and bad signings. The problem is clubs like us make a few signings, and if one or two of those don't work out, it makes the whole recruitment thing look awful. Big clubs sign better players than ours just to warm their bench or play in the reserves and think nothing of it

Borja on 11:06 - Feb 26 with 3430 views | Starsky | We must be partly to blame for not getting the best out of him. He's had 3 managers this season and has a good track record before he came here. He's never had a long run in the team either. Hopefully PC can find the answer or we indeed ship him out

Unless Llorente gets injured or we get to safety quicker than we could hope for, I can't see him getting much game time. Sad really, as I'm sure like Llorente, with game time he could prove his worth

We're playing a system at present that relies on a targetman. It's why Llorente has been so effective and Baston in his very limited appearances hasn't. You can't sensibly come to any real conclusion of a players ability based on those circumstances. Unless Clement is planning to revamp the way we attack in the summer then Baston will probably move on. Not his fault, he just doesn't fit the way we play. That's on Jenkins for signing him in the first place. No need for the senseless hate really.

Borja on 11:21 - Feb 26 with 3371 views | monmouth | We have no idea how good Baston could be in the PL, not a clue. Hell, I don't even know what system would really suit him or what he is meant to bring to the party. I'd like to think the people that signed him did. I'd like to....

Agree. Just because a player hasn't settled doesn't make him a bad player. Maybe he cannot cope with the physicality of the PL? There maybe other issues which we are not aware of. E.g. homesickness. Whatever it is I hope it is resolved soon so we can see the best of him.

I'm waiting to judge him when he's had a run in the team Perchie. Good record & reputation in Spain

Borja on 15:57 - Feb 26 with 2902 views | airedale | It just to show how far we have come as a club, where we can pay £15 bigguns for a player and not even play him. Bit like Chelsea with that Shughie Mcfee bloke imo. [Post edited 26 Feb 2017 16:01]

Borja on 16:03 - Feb 26 with 2887 views | nantywatcher | As a substitute for Llorente I think McBurnie is the obvious man, I have every confidence in him if he gets a run in the squad. Put Parsingh with the under 23's and get McB on the bench.
Borja on 16:42 - Feb 26 with 2806 views | Tummer_from_Texas | The money we wasted on Borja is offset by the bargain we got with Llorente. £20 million for both of them is decent enough in this day and age.

Quit looking at the bigger picture !! Start looking at individual deals, players, performances and even bits of play. Plenty to criticise there. Cos no other club or indeed any other person or entity in any walk of life ever makes a mistake. [Post edited 26 Feb 2017 21:11]

Huw Jenkins is held in contempt because he sold us out, not because of his record in the transfer market.
