100% Alzheimers at the age of 68, thank god that he's got a loving daughter.

Great player. I was at the League Cup game at Loftus Road in 78 or 79 and his wife had left him because he was a big of a twát and all the Swans fans were singing Stanley Stanley where's you wife Stanley where's your wife?

Very sad to read but I thought he was dead.

Wasn't he a bit of a gambler and drinker (bit of a boy)?

I was also at that game. A football special train from Swansea High Street with the S Wales Constabulary on board, agreat boozy day out for a young man and his mates. This was the next match in the cup after the famous replay win against Spurs. We all thought we were invicible, then QPR put us out.
Bowles was a real entertainer in the same mould as Frank Worthington and Tony Currie. Mavericks, great to watch never really trusted by England.
Bowles drank and gambled hardcore but so did a lot of players then.
Great memories.

Paul Clements old man and John Hollins would have played with him too, they also had a brilliant winger called Dave Thomas.

Very sad story, Paul clement's old man killed himself at a very young age.

In the second half of the 70s we had a flat in Shepherd's Bush about 2 streets away from Loftus Rd. Was a big fan in those days what with them being on my doorstep. Stan Bowles & Tony Currie, with Gerry Francis manager. Fantastic.
Stan was also knocking off a young woman who lived next door to us when he was supposedly married. Dunno how he had time to be shagging away from home, what with all the time he spent in the bookies.

QPR played lovely stuff in those days, reminded me a lot like us under Brendan - small club punching above their weight by playing pass and run.

Didn't Tony Currie play for Leeds though?

We all agree, Tony Currie is magic.

I didn't know that. It's an awful disease. Terrible.

I didn't know Dave Clement was his dad. I used to watch him playing football for about 5 years. Wow. Dave Clemet RB, Ian Gillard LB. Phil Parkinson in goal. This post is bringing back lots of memories.

Well your memory isn't very good 😄. The keeper was Phil Parkes. And the manager was Sexton I believe . Francis was playing for them, it was a great side they had

I remember going to Loftis Road for our league cup game there in the late 1970s after the Spurs win. Toshack played at centre back if I recall correctly but we lost a close game 2-0.

One of my first away games that was aged 13 😂 Midweek League Cup so nagged my old man like hell to take me out of school to go !
Dave Thomas was a very tricky winger Darr he wore his socks down by his ankles if I remember rightly ?

Seen a piece on Dave Thomas the other day, he's almost blind these days, a funding page was set up for him to have a guide dog, massively over subscribed. Great player on his day

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Anyone remember Terry Mancini the bald centre half playing for QPR?
There was a game in the 70s before teamsheets were handed out and names were on shirts that he took to the field wearing a wig and nobody knew who it was.

I remember Brian Moore talking about it on the Big Match the following day.

I think he was about 34, he seemed to be a decent footballer too. Dave Clement.
