Our goldfish is swimming on his side,I've taken him/her out of the tank incase it's contaminated,and put in fresh water, genuine advice only please.

Take it out of the water its in and put it under the cold water tap for a few seconds then straight back in its bowl. It's worked well for my goldfishes 😂 |  |

I once had one that swam upside down. It turned out it wasn't ill. In fact it was blind in one eye, couldn't see what it was eating and kept swallowing air.
It didn't seem to do it much harm. It went on for years like that. |  | | |
