Gibraltar to be Spanish ? on 18:51 - Apr 4 by Kilkennyjack
A people's right to self determination is important.
Thats why Scotland is upset about being dragged out of the EU against its will by midfle aged Tory England.
Or does the principle only hold when its 'in favour' of the tired old union.
Working with other contries is often a good way to avoid later conflict. That said if you are prepared to take up arms yourself in defence of the Falklands and Gib then i respect your position. I still dont agree with it. On the other hand, if you just want to send the army in whilst you stay at home then i have no respect for your views.
Simples.
Bluey answered the self determination bit.
Regarding war, no I don't believe we should go to war, unless either of them invade of course, invasion is war.
Both Countries, Argentina and Spain, have a perfectly peaceful method to bring their disputes to a conclusion. it's called the International Courts of Justice. Unfortunately the result would not go in the direction they want, therefore they will not take this option.
Instead they keep the dispute running nicely and use it time and again to deflect internal problems away from their governments.

Ruth Davidson "Theresa May is not a,woman known for changing her mind"
Other than on the single biggest issue the country has faced in the last 40 years of course.
To be perfectly honest I doubt she has changed her mind, Sherp. I'm sure behind closed doors she wishes Cameron hadn't called the referendum and remains a Remainer.
But (with a big capital B) she has a job to do now and it's not one she can shirk.
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Interesting, you are saying Mrs May still thinks the UK is better of in, but she is putting politics before what she believes is best for the economy in pushing through a hard brexit.
Isn't she asking the EU to do the exact opposite in respect of a trade deal?

No, May probably thinks we'd be better in.
Now she has to get the best deal for Britain, hard brexit or otherwise.

Despite all the bluster we see on our screens I'd be more than interested to know what's going on behind closed doors. All we are getting to see are politicians on both sides of the channel playing to their respective galleries and it's not a particularly edifying spectacle, is it?

Most of this has been played out in public pretty much as we've all seen it so far. There's nothing clandestine going on. You're right, it's not edifying

If she thinks we'd be better in, then she must also believe the best deal is no brexit, or at least EEA or EFTA.
Therefore, Our prime minister is deliberately pursuing policies that she believes are not in the UK s best interests.
Thanks for clearing that up.
There will nothing concrete in place until 2019, or so I'm led to believe. An awful lot can happen between now and then. A trite old cliche, I know, but it really is early days.
