Looking to book Venice for May, anyone been ? 21:03 - Apr 10 with 1893 views | WxmJax | Missus would like to go there and we can fit three days in between Sunderland and West Brom. Was looking at staying on the Lido to escape the hustle and bustle and I can also dip my pinkies in the sea or are we better off being in the city amongst it all ? Any suggestions gratefully welcomed.

Avoid the gondala dudes in Marco Polo square. 100 euros plus for a half hour punt round while he sings Dean Martin songs 👠

Aye, get the vaporettos (water buses) around the city, its the sensible way to see everything. Ticket booth on the Grand Canal right outside the railway station. Cost about 20 Euros for an all day ticket, unlimited travel, when I was there last year, I think you can get a 3 day ticket too - Google it. Check out All'Arco snack bar in the back streets near the Rialto Bridge, as featured on Rick Stein 'From Venice to istanbul'.
Looking to book Venice for May, anyone been ? on 00:12 - Apr 11 with 1773 views | Swanseajill | The lido is less crowded, and the hotels there look wonderful, with just a short walk to the beach on the other side of the city. I enjoyed the water bus trip to the local islands of Murano and Barano too. This gives you moments away from the madding crowd if you need a few moments breather Just don't sit on a seat in St Marks square...unless you're loaded with cash. It's a wonderful place to enjoy.
Looking to book Venice for May, anyone been ? on 08:15 - Apr 11 with 1710 views | STID2017 | Lots of places to eat at sensible prices away from St Mark's Square. Take stout walking shoes as it's bigger than it looks. Go to Harry's Bar (near St Mark's Square) - don't have to buy a drink, but nice to say you've had a real "Bellini" Can see a lot in a few days, especially if you get a central hotel. Personally, we did the gondola for about £80 and had a private water taxi straight to our hotel for about the same. Stayed at the entrance to the Grand Canal at the Bauer Venice - beautiful hotel. Life is about experiences and IMHO you should cram as many special moments in. Enjoy yourself anyway

Hey, this is MY thread, all about ME, go get your own. I quite fancy trying these places to eat, don't really want any fancy dining, just good Italian food so there'll probably be a pizza in there at some time. http://www.dalmorosfreshpastatogo.com And this one is where Rick Stein was on his Venice-Istanbul programme https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187870-d1088051-Reviews-All_Arc We're looking at getting the Alilaguna boat from Marco Polo airport http://www.alilaguna.it/en and then getting the 3 day all inclusive travel pass on boats and buses from actv, about 65 euros. http://actv.avmspa.it/en/content/prices Would like to see one of the big cruise liners sailing through the canal as well. I might try and be on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore opposite St Mark's Square when one of the liners pass. Sad, I know. http://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/venice-port-79?month=2017-04#schedule Also been looking at the Venice forum on TripAdvisor and the help given on here, the money back offer is interesting. I expect a full write up on your return. Have a great time, finalising mine tonight.

This was the view from our room and getting a vaporetto pass ( €30 for 72 hours ) was a no brainer. We got to 'arrive' in Venice near St Mark's Square twice a day and the 12 minute trip back in the darkness was great as well. We are grateful to have had such a great time.
