Good to see you've replaced the Stevie G poster in your bedroom with a Che Guevara one. I suppose that's progress of a sort.

"Trapped inside the M25 bubble", " Southern Rail strikes"?
Do you use a random cliché generator to post these days? You were on safer ground with your "Neil Taylor's not that bad" schtick.

Frankly, I don't giving a flying fûck about "what engages young people in politics these days". Youthful idealism has always been a fleeting irrelevance. The new "Corbynista" members of the Labour Party are overwhelmingly middle aged, middle class and from the south east. Don't flatter yourself.

Couldn't give a flying fück about Southern Rail either, sunshine. I hardly ever use it.

By the way, no one's equating May with Thatcherism. However, with a huge majority and the absence of a credible opposition, they will almost certainly gravitate to the right despite what you "hope".

Struck a nerve, have I? There's little substance in anything you've said and trotting out cliched insults about Che Guevara posters which couldn't be further from the mark. You've even bothered with accents to prove to us all how educated you are. We understand you went to grammar school, Phil. Though it's refreshing to see you've stopped pointing out punctuation errors because that was becoming painfully tedious.

Your third paragraph perfectly highlights your outdated view. What you see as irrelevance is actually 3-4 million votes not cast as part of a worrying trend of decline in youth participation. Given the extensive research that suggests voting habits stay the same only a dinosaur wouldn't see the importance of engaging the youth. The people that will actually face the consequences of this government's actions by the way, not you who'll be spoon-fed hydrocodone into a dribbling gob by the time anything actually changes. Nowhere did I suggest Corbyn had wholly done that but you keep knocking down those straw men.

What are your suggestions for the future of Labour, Phil? Genuine question as you seem bereft of ideas other than Dennis Skinner in a DeLorean.

Predictably boring response. How many times have you used that joke now, Phil?

So Ed Milliband's manifesto headed by Dan Jarvis. F*cking hell.

Easy to input data when everything's in _____'s had a _____ format.

Perhaps but not sure it's a given that he'd have beat Cameron. May have been able to eat a bacon sarnie though I'll concede that.

Ah, so she's a c*nt.

Modern Labour voters, no hatred, no misogyny whatsoever...

MP's have been under investigation for a while. Linking the election call with that is yet more tinfoil hattery.

EDIT:

Only a fool would want TV debates. They are massively biased against any incumbent PM - you've however many other party leaders involved whose sole aim is to point score against the incumbent. It's a no win situation.

Someone like Paxman grilling each leader individually, no issue with that.
[Post edited 19 Apr 2017 17:19]

Call it what you will Bluey but to refuse to do so leaves you open to inevitable and correct claims that you are too scared to doesn't it?
And we all know an incumbent PM has more to lose than the others. But Brown and Cameron had the balls to do it. Mrs May doesn't.

Her excuse is she'd rather talk to the people. Which is laughable. Fact is she's not very good at debating.

Mrs May is too scared to debate Corybyn, Farron and various other no marks. Whereas her predecessors were.

And this is the lady we are looking to sort the EU out and tell them what we want and expect to get it.

But too scared to talk to Jeremy f*cking Corbyn. And Tim f*cking Farron.

This is going to go well isn't it?

She's gonna tell Merkel exactly where to go. We want this and we want that. But doesn't want to risk a debate with Jeremy f*cking Corbyn.

We're f*cked.

I'm no fan of hers but deciding "we're f@cked" because May has chosen to duck the tv debates is just silly. At least give her credit for knowing her strengths/weaknesses and playing her hand accordingly.

There's no comparison between an hour stood at a podium trumpeting soundbites versus years of Brexit negotiation. I know which of the two I'd rather her be better at.

Fair enough.

But please don't pretend she's doing it because she want's to talk to the people bollocks. She's ducking out of a debate with Jeremy f*cking Corbyn. If you're too scared to debate Jeremy f*cking Corbyn then you won't have my vote.

It was more aimed at Bluey rather than you to be honest.

Implementation. Not the idea.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Health_Service

"Calls for a "unified medical service" can be dated back to the Minority Report of the Royal Commission on the Poor Law in 1909, but it was following the 1942 Beveridge Report's recommendation to create "comprehensive health and rehabilitation services for prevention and cure of disease" that cross-party consensus emerged on introducing a National Health Service of some description."

Bevan claiming credit for the idea is laughable - without the Beveridge Report they'd not have considered the idea.

This is where you let yourself down Bluey. C'mon man. You're a bright boy. Dont be so silly.

The Labour Party created the NHS. The Tories were against it. There's f *ck all more than that you can say. If you want to say that's it was the Liberals who really thought it up carry on. The Labour Party created it. Your lot tried to stop it.

Grow up man. It just makes you look silly.

Jesus, Bluey. She called an election cos Labour's a shambles and she'll get a full five years with a thumping majority. Nothing wrong with that, it's what any career politician would do but let's not be pretend it's been done for the good of the nation or anything other than party political reasons.

I'm sure if you had read Janan Ganesh's article in yesterday's FT where Bluey almost certainly got his epiphany from - directly or indirectly - you would have found the argument considerably more plausible.

You do realise you've just repeated what I said, right?

Beveridge report had the idea. Labour created the implementation. Labour didn't come up with the idea.

Thank you for agreeing with everything I wrote.

Nah, Merkel is overrated. Dominant financial power of Germany has made her look stronger than she really is - don't forget she's under massive pressure in Germany so may not even be back after their elections.

There's a lot more grit and steel to May than people think. EU can underestimate her all they like...

Not at all. May is an "incompetent and hapless knobhead" in your opinion only.

I tend to give people chances. Things don't work out, they don't work out.
