RIP Chris Cornell on 19:56 - May 18 by icecoldjack
Not fussed on any of these bands like Nirvana soundgarden etc i hold them personally responsible for the death of Glam metal, hair metal, sleaze rock etc, etc.!!
The girls dressed down instead of up! Instead of girls wearing nice sexy rock chick gear they all then started dressing like a fookin' mess, baggy trousers and tee shirts etc, basically they all looked like Darran !
Anyway, RIP regardless.
Bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana eh?
Besides geography they had very little in common. Musically very different. Nirvana was a Pixies/Mudhoney rip-off, Soundgarden was an updated 70's Sabbath style rock band.

Funny you should say that two people have just been enthusing over my latest shirt on twitter. FACT
Pink & Black it is.
The first ever recipient of a Planet Swans Lifetime Achievement Award.
Great choices although Stone Temple Pilots only just qualifies by being a poppy version of AIC and not from grunge territory. No surprise he's dead either. I was listening to Touch Me I'm Sick earlier too.
Maybe obvious choices for Chris Cornell - good songs though,

Speaking of Seattle, these guys were huge for a couple years in the 90's, then broke up and seem to have completely disappeared from memory. Saw them once live, they were great and really friendly with the audience.

Besides they were part of the same movement and classed as forming part of the seattle sound or grunge movement, which was my point, Grunge took over and then spread and moved into the LA scene displacing the sleaze, glam, pop metal scene .
The chicks went from hot to not !!
Suddenly it wasn't cool to be Motley Crue !! bad bad bad !!

Where Bob Bradley got his break I think.
Love PUSA, got two albums. Often went on stage with semi strung guitars / bass. Very entertaining storytellers on stage. "We're not gonna make it" and "Mach 5" are staples on any "mix tapes" I create.
Superunknown was one of those defining albums for me and my buddies...we were well into the alternative rock/grundge stuff as teenagers back then. It's aged well, sounds just as good these days as it did back then.
File it alongside Siamese Dream, Nevermind, Weezer's blue album, Throwing Copper et al...

Pearl Jam always seem to be disregarded but they've had the most enduring career.
Nirvana are vastly overrated - Bleach was great, everything else over-produced to be consumer friendly. Foo Fighters have shown the real talent in the band was Dave Grohl.
I'd agree with you AIC for me were better than Soundgarden in terms of having better songs but I'd say Soundgarden were more influential.
Give over, Foo Fighters are poop apart from their first album that had a few good tracks on it.
Dave Grohl is a great drummer and all round top bloke though.
He's an okay drummer and guitar player. His strength is writing great pop songs.
The Foos are a "Greatest Hits" band.
There are two or three great tracks on each album, but an awful lot of filler.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
