The demise of High street. 10:22 - May 25 with 3059 viewsperchrockjack

Anything sadder as regards our towns and cities.

Not just retail giants but small family businesses

While shop on line ,we kill our shops, we kill our High Street .

High Streets demise has ripped the guts out of our towns

Bloody sad to see

It's odd though ,is it not.

When we have posters regaling about some celeb they ve badgered into being photographed with and endless valley gossip.

I just wanted to praise wAyne, for his diplomacy skills in trying to reignite some of my former friendships .

Wayne is a guy I've never met but I've heard good reports from my network and he eels to be a cross between Nelson Mandela and Wilfred Pickles

It's not odd, it's just not what you are accustomed to.

I know plenty will disagree, but I'll happily forego a bustling city centre for the convenience of having stuff delivered to my door the next day, often st a lower than shop floor price. I never have to go there anyway.

The net effect of less retail jobs is a valid concern.

I prefer to buy whatever I want within a few clicks and spend my leisure time at a beach or a bar than ambling around town.

Thanks but it's not a case of me being accustomed.

I was making an observation of how our high streets are changing.

It's not just retail outlets and its sad ,truly, to see erstwhile vibrant towns become emasculated

Internet is killing us both socially and ,in view of terrorism, literally

On reflection, Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow are holding up better than might be expected. I guess the nearest out of town centres are the Mall and Spytty though, or Cardiff, so it gives us a fighting chance.
