What do you mean what's going on up here?
The Met have a policy of only reporting confirmed numbers and not speculating but only saying 'it could be higher' which is what they have said. I'm not saying 160 is not true, but it's not confirmed which is why they are not reporting it.
And you said over 300?
As an aside, I can't imagine they are giving out information to people who work for a London council either.
Why can't people let the emergency services do their job?

To be honest, the fact that we know c. 100 people have died is enough for any reaction. Extra people don't make it worse, as it couldn't be worse.
But you must know that the emergency services can't speculate.
They have a huge problem knowing the numbers involved, for obvious reasons. We may, sadly, never know.
I think that the 'true' final number of fatalities/ identities here will NEVER be known.
So many people coming and going on the night of the fire as well as 'friends and family' staying overnight etc, the full extent of this will never be known.
All we should demand now is a commitment that something like this WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

I actually think there's are a huge number of things that should be demanded, not least that the police are allowed to carry out a criminal investigation into what happened, from the works specified, done, checked. Were any laws broken. What laws need changing. Rehousing. Support. Inspection of every block in the U.K. Etc etc. Etc.
But I'm honestly not certain why some dont understand why the numbers are so difficult to ascertain. Particularly when it comes to the numbers of people missing.
