Well, at least the Crown is safe.

Tell you what, I'm a republican, but the Queen has an unbelievable amount of stamina. This heat (and London is genuinely excruciating at the moment) at her age, and it's not as if she can rock up in a t shirt like the rest of us.

The emergency services etc. are not stretched enough so these dirty unwashed çunts want a day of rage.

Of course, if the Tories being protested against hadn't cut the emergency services to the bone, they wouldn't be overstretched.

Just saying

The mistake there is in assuming that an anti Tory vote is by definition, a vote supporting Corbyn's version of Labour when that's far from the truth.

I voted 'anti Tory' but I've no more desire to see Corbyn in number 10 than May. And my Labour MP spent the whole time while electioneering telling people that he couldn't stand Corbyn or his version of Labour.

I'm more than happy to see consensus politics where parties have to work together - it sees there more extreme policies watered down (as we are already seeing on brexit).

The thing that makes me very angry about this is the highjacking of Grenfell - I had a leaflet given to me at Shepherds Bush the other day saying this was about Justice for Grenfell. No it's not. And for them to use that is disgusting. It's the equivalent of far right groups using terrorist attacks in Manchester or London for their grubby little aims.

Incidentally, if they genuinely want a day of peaceful protest to be taken seriously, which is fine, don't call it a Day of Rage and hand out leaflets saying you won't stop trying to destroy London until Corbyn is PM. Oh, and meeting outside Cafe Nero at Shepherds Bush isn't very anti capitalist either you f***wits.

I have had numerous comments from Labour voters saying that the result was "perfect" - i.e. a hung parliament, without a Labour Government, which is a bizarre position to be in if you are a supporter of any political party. It also highlights how, as you say, there was no love for Corbyn, the man is a liability.

As for Grenfell, I couldn't agree more. It's absolutely despicable how that has been hijacked.

I think she would gain a lot more support if she did though. A fluorescent green tie-dyed t-shirt with the slogan "God Save Me" emblazoned on it with a pair of linen cut offs would probably go down well.

Also most 92 year old women would be tempted into pulling a sickie if their 98 year old husband had been rushed in to hospital overnight.

There would be no number of emergency services personnel that could cope with the current terror threat, Grenfell, and a Day of 'Rage' at the same time.
Or at least, if they could, the majority of the time they'd be sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

The Conservative & Unionist Party won the UK General Election on the 8th of June by virtue of winning the most seats.

They therefore have the mandate and obligation to form a Government.

Sorry Ed but that's clearly nonsense, which is proven by the fact that the Maybot has had to go cap in hand to the DUP.

Would your theory still hold if, to take a simple example, The Tories had won 306 seats, Labour 304 and the SNP 40?

Physically and biologically it's Stamina, but Psychologically it's called having a sense of duty. Now, that may be misguided, if HRH genuinely believes her role has been ordained by God, but she also undoubtedly has a sense of Duty to her country and subjects that goes beyond her self interest.

I'm not surprised he's in hospital, he was wearing top hat and tails yesterday at Ascot. I could barely be bothered to move in a pair of shorts and t shirt and I'm 50 years younger than him.

The concept of a majority is a relatively new thing. We went centuries with hung parliaments.

Ian hislop put it perfectly the other night when he said a thumping majority is the last thing we need because they would go around thumping everyone. At least now there will be at least the illusion of parties talking to each other.

To be fair, there's also quite a few who voted Labour precisely because of Corbyn. The manifesto itself also helped.

I don't think there's much love nationally for corbyn. You only have to look at the comments on here before the election. Lots of people were saying they didn't like corbyn but tactically voting for labour was the only chance of getting the Tories out. This is in South Wales where labour and socialist nonsense have always been utterly dominant.

I admit the wallies on planetswans are a small sample and it's not scientific to extrapolate that feeling to a complex electorate of 40 million+ people but it's the feeling I get from talking and listening to people.

Yes, he party that wins the most seats has the opportunity to form a Government first.

eg 2010 When The Conservatives formed a coalition with the Lib Dems despite Labour having a mathematical majority of they formed a coalition with everyone else.

This is quite interesting. While it doesn't show he's viewed positively, it does show a rise in Corbyn and Labour's favourability. Data gathered by YouGov post-election.
