Red Wine - White wine 23:45 - Jun 23 with 6275 viewsPokerface

There really is no reason to spend more than £5 on a decent wine to drink at home.

Treble that price at least in a restaurant for same wine. Worth it though, given right occasion / venue.

Red wine wins hands down every time.

Red or White. Is it red for blokes more commonly and white for women . If so, why ?

Best reds for consistently good. Chile, Australia, Spain,South Africa and France. In that order. At that price- £5

My current cheap (£6 ish) default tipple. If you like a french red, its definitly worth a try. Open it an hour in advance to let the flavour develop.

If you want to see what a decent Rioja tastes like, take a deep breath and buy one of these:

We've treated ourselves a few times over the years. I put this in a decanter and let it breath for half and hour or more for it to be at its best. Scrumptious especially with a nice meal. You wont find one at a fiver to match it. I usually baulk at paying this much, but its illogical really. You can pay £15 for some right old dross in a restaurant, why not add a fiver and have one of these at home ?

If there is anything left in the bottle after an hour of it being opened, then I would feel utter shame.

Thanks - I'll give that a try.

If there's a Waitrose near you grab a Jip Jip Rocks shiraz - on offer at £7.99. You'll thank me...
