I've watched several races this time, as I normally have done since they've been televised.
These newest catamarans are almost beyond belief - 50 miles an hour top speeds, along with the incredible skills required to make those boats run! The Kiwi crew are certainly from the top drawer.

They sure are a great sight racing each other.
Only 1 race again today, which was won by Oracle (USA).
Not the best of days for the Kiwis. They were smashing Oracle by about 1.5km in light winds today, when the race was called off, due to a 40 minute race time being exceeded. What a joke of a rule, obviously made up to suit tv.
We've had the wind blowing too much, and wind blowing too little - today, the wind was blowing in the wrong direction - racing postponed until tomorrow.
FFS, this is dragging on a bit now - best if each team stick a motor on each boat and just get on with it

2 pretty comfortable wins for Oracle Team USA today
NZ 8 USA 5
squeaky bum time
Do you think the upturn in fortunes is down to Ben Ainslie being made tactician, the mods they made or both?
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

I think Ben has lifted their spirits somewhat, but I'm not sure he is a better tactician then the American he replaced.
The main difference is, Oracle have found a little bit of extra speed, and in racing, speed is just about everything.
Most respectfully, it might be that, although Ainslie was not as good as his predecessor, they are both working in what is essentially a new class of boat,, and Ainslie is better with it. And there's the matter of the different rules structure this time, and the courses used, both of which might suit Ainsley better.
There would be too much of a coincidence if one did not give much, or most, of the credit for a complete change in results to a different tactician.
The proof might be in the pudding in the last race.

Yeah, after watching the last couple of races, I think Ainslie played a blinder in both races, so have changed my opinion somewhat - he has made an impact.
Obviously having a faster boat helps, but the speed differences are not that far apart. The kiwis have made some costly errors, some forced by the pressure put on them by Oracle. Oracle have not made any errors in the last week.
Oracle are looking big favorites now - has there been a better comeback in any sport? 8-1 down in the first to 9, that would be some comeback!
