Anyone on here watch it? If so, thoughts?

I've noticed lately that when I'm setting up the pub for the day, I'm more and more likely to have this channel on in the background than the BBC or Sky News. Seems a lot more informative, and less agenda driven.

If I want lazy news I watch sky or whatever.

If I want a more truthful serous report on the situation such as Syria or the economic crisis then I watch RT.

I love the Keiser report Stacy Herbert is lush..actually it s full of hot intelligent birds that makes very pleasant watching...be nice if they could do a topless spot occasionally.

Didn't one of their British staff (based in London) resign recently, angry at the way the Ukraine situation was being reported, as she seemed to say, with little regard for the truth!

I suppose deciding which channel to watch the news on these days is like in days of old when there were genuine political differences/bias between British newspapers. I find Sky rather nauseating and the BBC just downright bias in its reporting. Someone posted earlier in this thread that the BBC is "Tory- run". That's about as mental a suggestion as one could ever hope to come across. Question Time and This Week (Thursday night double bubble) are about as left wing as you could hope to see. Every time a Tory supporter says anything on QT they get screamed down by the majority left wing maniacs, eyes bulging with vitriol and hatred of any opinion that even moderately differs from their own. As anyone with any savvy of politics knows, Tory supporters tend to keep themselves to themselves whilst other parties' supporters rant away endlessly, making ever less sense. As can be seen daily on thus very forum , sadly......

The three major Westminster parties are right wing, extreme right wing actually, they are all Tory parties, just some are blue Tories, some are red tories and some are yellow Tories, there hasn't been a major Westminster left wing party of any description since the old Labour party of Michael Foot 30 odd years ago [that was the last socialist manifesto actually that they did, before they turned to the dark side and abandoned the poor] , NuLabour are as right wing as the Conservative and Unionist Party, you can't get a fag paper between their policies.

In Wales and Scotland there is a left wing choice with Plaid and the SNP, but in England they are dominated by the right wing.

And they didn't let the party leaders of Plaid and the SNP get involved in the leaders debates before the national elections on UK wide tv, the tv companies, like the newspapers are all right wing, look at the reporting of troubles in Ireland and the Middle East, its all pro right wing, look at the economic reporting also, its all pro right wing.

The population is being brainwashed.

The thing is I think you're absolutely correct in stating that the main parties are all similar in policy. It's just that voters, particularly older ones (in my experience) simply don't realise/refuse to accept that this is in fact the situation. Effectively , the electorate is being duped by talk of LW/RW politics when the reality is, there is no longer either. Where I disagree with is that all the main parties are moderate (centre) in their policy-making but certainly not "right wing". EU laws make it virtually impossible for any member state to govern itself in a right wing manner. Hence, the joke immigration policies and protection of workers etc. If we had had a right wing government at any point since '97 do you seriously think they would have just opened the floodgates on immigration?!

If you measure policies against policies of the past we have extreme right wing parties, they want to portray themselves as moderate or being close to the centre but by any measure they are extreme right wing whereas the social justice parties of the SNP and Plaid are basically centre ground.

So we have the two main so called nationalist parties in Scotland and Wales taking up the centre ground and the three main Westminster parties being out on the extreme right.

I remember somebody commenting on one of those political comparison graphs on a messageboard on the net that NuLabour is almost a fascist party after checking out where they were on the graph on a political spectrum, their policies are similar to the Lib-Dems and Conservatives and they occupied similar positions on the graph as extreme right wing parties do and some very unsavoury individuals from history when individuals are plotted onto the same graph.

Its interesting that the press will paint the likes of the SNP and Plaid as extreme when they are middle of the road by any measure when the likes of the big 3 Westminster parties are on the extreme edge of the political spectrum and they try to portray them as being in the centre, its laughable, for those that are interested and not brainwashed.

Extreme Left Wing decision-makers the world over, have in fact often been dictatorial , murdering, corrupt lunatics (communist Russia anyone??). Trade Unions for example, show/have shown extreme violence, threatening behaviour to achieve their aims and they are supposedly "left wing". You're allowing your own love of the Left to cloud your judgement on the issue whilst ignoring, for example, the points I made on racial integration/immigration which prove recent governments have left-wing tendencies when it suits them. If you think every fascist is "right wing" then I'm sorry but I whole-heartedly disagree. If you're describing all recent Governments as being "greedy, self-serving bully-boys" who don't allow other opinions then I'd right with you. But if you think Plaid or the SNP are actually any different then you must having a giraffe because the Plaid-infected Welsh Assembly shows us exactly why this isn't the case.

I know Sara Firth from her days based in Moscow (I was one of the first people she interviewed.....about global warming.....when it was -20c outside and she interviewed me by the Moscow River!!!)

She's really a great girl. She's a great laugh, really friendly, very honest and don't even get me started on her principals! I'm just surprised she last 3+ years here as RT's far from an honest channel.

I defend Russia a lot (as I've lived here now longer than I lived in Swansea, which is a scary thought) but RT's a shambles. Yes, it tells the Septics and Brits the truth about their countries that CNN, Fox, BBC, etc wouldn't dare say, but it's not very honest when discussing Russia. It's a pity because it's otherwise a good channel.

One of Russia's biggest downfalls is it's lack of good PR (as the country and people, in general, are amazing) and also its ability to shoot itself in the foot at every opportunity.

Don't believe everything you read in the press, don't judge Russians by the few rowdy/crazy/rude ones you meet on holiday (as we wouldn't want to be judged as typical Brits abroad, would we?) and don't forget that the language barrier has a huge part to play in the lack of understanding in both directions!

I don't want to get caught in an argument about how good/bad Russia is....just saying it's not all what you think.

Ps - yes, Sara's cute! Very!

Interesting that you mention the Russian people you meet on holiday, I was recently in Turkey and a few people had mentioned that the Russian people overrun the hotel. After a few drinks on the first night, we got talking to a few of the Russian folks and had a great time with them and a large group of their friends for the rest of the week.

Interestingly, the majority of the British people complaining about them made absolutely no effort to talk to the Russians and actively stayed out of their way. Just sat at the reception bar and restaurant grumbling and moaning to themselves and anyone else who would listen.

As for your points on RT, maybe it's the fact that it tells the truth about our countries that makes it interesting for me to watch...That is probably what I enjoy about it.

Extreme Right Wing decision-makers the world over, have in fact often been dictatorial , murdering, corrupt lunatics [Nazi Germany anyone ??].

Trade unions are right wing bully boys and girls, look at the teachers unions, look at doctors and the police, they screw the country over and over, the unions care nothing for people on benefits or for the poor or for the low paid that can't afford to even be in a union.
One of the major problems in this country are the unions, they are often extreme right wingers who are hand in glove with the right wing Westminster parties.

The Welsh Assembly isn't infested with middle of the road Plaid politicians, they have only got 11 out of 60 AM's, the place is infected with right wing unionist parties.

After the 2nd world war the country went through a phase of left leaning and right leaning governments, the post war consensus it was known as right up until Mrs Thatcher she hoodwinked the English working class [Wales and Scotland didn't fall for it, might be a Celtic/Anglo Saxon thing] by offering them small tax cuts and she sold off the family silver [council houses, nationalised industries] to a few when it originally belonged to everybody, that was it then Labour was beaten and turned right wing to compete with the tax cuts of Mrs Thatcher, since then its been noted we are all now children of Thatcher, which is true in most cases but not mine as you can appreciate by my posts.

Its because the English want different things to the Welsh and Scots that the union will break up in half a century or so, they just love the survival of the fittest and dog eat dog over there don't they ? and the only way the Welsh and Scots can avoid the loony right is to breakaway.

You say ''Yes, it tells the Septics and Brits the truth about their countries that CNN, Fox, BBC, etc wouldn't dare say, but it's not very honest when discussing Russia. It's a pity because it's otherwise a good channel''.

That's exactly right about Western channels, including British channels, with the only exception being the English lead British state reporting on American and Israeli issues.

Its a pity that not everybody recognises that due to brainwashing, like I said in my very first post on this thread '' its always worth watching foreign tv news to get a balance, the pro English/American/Israeli stuff we get is very disturbing''.
