Incompetence.
Coyne admitted in an interview a while ago asking for and receiving Labour member emails, which he used in his campaign. Labour members not in Unite have also reported via social media receiving emails from red Len, so it seems both candidates received email lists.
Coyne it appears was suspended for being honest and saying what he said in that interview - without that, no cause for suspension.
Many of social media castigating Coyne for "stealing their data", for "breaching data protection act". Utterly ignorant.
Labour are the entity holding that data. Labour distributed that data to third parties without the express permission of the people whose data was used. If any breach of DPA occurred, then it was by Labour - any complaint to ICO could land Labour into a large amount of brown stuff in the form of a large fine.
I'm amazed the "Tory" press haven't picked up on the implications for Labour in this. | |
