Luke Williams moves in from the outer cold
at 13:51 29 Dec 2023

I agree with most of that but we are not a managerial graveyard. The opposite in fact as other teams can clearly see when we have appointed a gem and they tend to go for them.
Sadly our owners would not recognise, or support, progress if t hit then over the head with a mallet.
It will not surprise me if Martin becomes part of a growing list of Swansea bosses who have made it to the Premier League.

1. Bookmark indeed. Speak in a years time.
2. Had to adapt to no pace on the wings. Our attack was not the problem. It was defence where players struggled with the passing game. I will be very sorry to see the 'Swansea Way' being abandoned as the alternative is either Cooperball or hoofball. The former being preferable.
3. That was just an aside by me. We could start a whole thread on those but they have been done to death. Not got the energy or the inclination but I am sure you can recall the counter arguments.

Huge parallels with the sackings of Beilsa and Laudrup.

Possible upside of Martin leaving .
at 09:30 22 May 2023

Won't happen. Yanks.
Fringe players returning will not change our fortunes. Especially with Piroe, Grimes and Manning gone. What was needed was pace down the flanks. The kind the Wolfe and Christie provided with the presence of Downes in midfield..
Plus you are assuming that the next appointment will be a success. Unless that happens then there will be no 'upsides'. The gamble will continue with each managerial change. This time there will be a lot of unpicking and rebuilding to be done.
The future is bleak with these charlatans in charge.

Exactly.
Martin had a project here and was screwed over by the Yanks.
Left with a weaker team at the start of last season then completely unsupported by the owners in the January window when we needed a final push. On top of this his star player contracts, and his own, were allowed to run down.
IMHO he is has never been anything but honest with the fans, Including in relation to his own mistakes. We built a style of football that has run right through the club and it will now be completely broken up.
I suspect in a years time the Premier League will see yet another ex Swans manager.
In the meantime our fickle fans will continue blaming the coach whilst our disgraceful owners get away with blue murder. This whilst we continue in our downward spiral.
Martin is one of the few Swans managers I have real respect for. Along with Laudrup and Guidolin.

Blackpool tickets for non JA members

Check out the Ma Kelly's website. They have few sports bars. Nearest would appear the New Albert in Lytham Road. There is the Uncle Toms Sports Bar in the Showboat and a big bar in Devonshire Square. Both a tram or bus ride from the ground.
My choice would be Champs in Topping street as the Akash opposite is my favourite curry house :-)

I am doing a Thursday to Monday. 3 of us. Staying up in Gynn Square.
Anyone looking for a good curry or fish and chips? Yorkshire Fisheries and the Akash come highly recommended. Both in Topping Street near Ma Kelly's North.
Opposite the Akash in a good sports bar formerly known as Gillespies. Now take over by the MK chain.
The Bridge in Lytham Road looks the favourite for pre match tipple for me.

Coventry City v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread TUESDAY
at 23:05 2 Nov 2021

Yep. That is just how I saw it from my sofa. If we can get the final ball right then this division can look out.
The travelling fans were superb and could be heard quite clearly over the commentary.

I remember when one Cardiff fan went to the trouble of crafting an incredibly good replica of Swansea logo out of pegs and heather. It was very funny. (...at the time. Maybe not so PC nowadays :-))

Long balls vs forced short passing - is plan A dead?
at 22:19 21 Oct 2021

Martin has always promoted the passing game from the off. I have heard him say however that the system has to be tweaked dependant on the oppo as to whether they high press or sit back.
I don't think the passing initiative is on the wane.
Your analysis is much appreciated and for me it shows how the team is evolving.
Whether this is by design or part of Martin's learning curve remains to be seen.
I think we will still see high possession and passing rates whilst RM is in charge. Time will tell.

Horses for courses. There is a plan A and B. Maybe even C.
We are still passing teams off the park but when we get the high press we mix it by going long thereby leaving the 'pressers' exposed.
Martin has always said it was getting the defence sorted was the priority. We are now working on the attack. He looks forward to the day when he no longer has to 'scream like and idiot on the sidlines' and can sit back and enjoy the performance.

Ntcham and Piroe

Started so well then turned on the team and management. It takes time to transform. The side improves virtually every game after an understandably shaky start. We could easily have had two wins out of our last two home games. Let's give RM a chance. A complete change in playing style with 9 new players takes time.

Surely if he carries on at this rate he is going to be a 20+ goal striker. I have high hopes for him.

Season changing match hopefully
at 20:55 18 Sep 2021

Must say it feels like that. I would have taken a draw before kick off in view of what RM is currently trying to do with the team. Also no win is EVER guaranteed in this division.
First half shows however he still has a lot of work to do with some members of the squad.
The encouraging signs are there though. Oliver and Piroe seem worth the admission fee alone. I have not felt that way for many moons about players in our team.
I am quite optimistic and excited about the future. I hope our gamble on a young progressive manager pays off.

Very much so. I don't get this negativity, I really don't.
RM was brought in far too late and has had to change the team in real time as well as trying to blood in a host of new players. We had kept a few decent clean sheets after a shaky start and yes, the first half was a big set back. More than compensated by the second half fight back though.
The guy has been here 8 weeks or so. Lets give him a chance. I for one am excited by the project and look forward to 'Oliver's Army' on the march in midfield.
Now is nit the time to call for his head ;-)

Olivier Ntcham offered new lifeline at Swansea City
at 09:23 3 Sep 2021

Agree with both comments. I to think this is his last chance saloon. Best to reserve comments until we see what he delivers.
Reading between the lines I think that is his take on it as well. He is not pressurising himself and his main objective is to get back in the team and not be a bench warmer.
Seems quite a modest guy really and that is probably a good thing compared to some of the egomaniacs in the game.
I wish him all the very best. May take a few games but I hope it all works out for him, and us...
