A spectacular failure by the second most hated man on merseyside.

Who else- May? Sturgeon?

Corbyn looks solid now and arguably Farron has done enough. Plaid gain a seat but lose ground in the valleys-how safe is Leanne "Natalie' Wood?

Currently second with one yellow more than Liverpool on 55. Bournemouth have fewer but several red cards. Watford are bottom.

Orgreave-good article by David Conn
at 15:59 18 May 2017

Conn more usually writes on football and Hillsborough of course. I was 16 when this happened. The 1984/5 Miners strike affected the way I look at the world even today. The article perhaps begins to explain some of the culture of senior officers in South Yorkshire Police which culminated in tragedy five years later. It is a long piece.

Decimate
at 15:08 25 Apr 2017

A word being bandied around a lot at the moment. In its 'modern' sense we take it to be the removal or destruction of a large proportion of something. Yet its Latin derivation relates to one in ten-usually the execution of every tenth person involved in rebellion or mutiny. Both are correct but I hope that a team decimated by injuries or labour being decimated at the next election are just in the modern sense.

A pointless post but needed to help my sanity in grant writing.

Seems strange not to have any players in it, though five products of our academy including a call-up for Joe Walsh.

Surprised no one posted about this. Moralee was interviewed on 5 live yesterday afternoon about the role of an agent. Spoke at some length over Ash's transfer to Everton. He said that Swansea offered to match the wage offer from Everton, but that was rejected for the challenge of a new 'bigger' club. Spoke highly of Swansea being one of the more professional clubs in transfer dealings!

Hull-'oystercard-style' membership scheme replaces season tickets

Not applicable to us due to lack of capacity but a good idea for the semi-regular. Would be good for exiles like me, but of course relies on spare capacity- say 25000 member is fine for somewhere like the KC.

Relegation odds

We have lengthened considerably from last week (in the range 4/1 to 8/1) to post-arsenal (8/1-16/1) as far as 33/1 now with 25/1 being more typical. Back-to-back wins have really made a difference. I believe a win and draw from 9 games will be more than sufficient and I am a pessimist.

Reflection
at 13:52 2 Nov 2015

Having had 2 days to reflect on the Arsenal game my 10 thoughts are:
1. Ashley Williams is on a bit of a slump in form by his high standards
2. We actually played pretty well
3. Cech did not foul Gomis, but Giroud did pull Fabianski-both based on being in the 2nd row of the North Stand next to the Arsenal fans and TV highlights
4. Arsenal are very good
5. Eder needs to be given chance
6. JJS was our best player
7. Montero blows hot and and cold even within a game
8. As great as Rangel has been for us, we are a better team with Naughton
9. Our discipline needs work
10. Always disappointing to see fans leaving early and why was the seat to me empty when my daughter had to sit the other side of the stand

Gomis and Fabianski
at 13:25 30 Mar 2015

Statistically almost polar opposites

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/mar/30/premier-league-stats-chelse

Gomis has joint worst shot conversion rate. Fabianski 2nd highest number of saves (to Rob Green) and second highest successful save percentage (to De Gea).

Routs and Ki the other players appearing in the lists -most sprints and pass accuracy.

Read into this what you will-is Gomis getting himself into a position to miss more frequently or is he just poor?

Hard earned three points
at 20:10 28 Feb 2015

Home coking dinner and enjoying a Goose Island IPA. That was a dis play of character. Fabianski, Williams and Fernandez were so solid in the middle. We gave the ball away too easily at times. Shelvey played some superb balls and Gomis put in hell of a shift. Carroll was sadly disappointing. I hope Burnely stay up. Made very welcome at the cricket club and some of the most sensible stewarding and policing I have seen.
