Christmas Bestseller - Paul Clements book of after match football bullshit
at 09:03 14 Dec 2017

Whilst we all know the bullshit that goes hand in hand with the ' beautiful game ' ( if you doubt that ask yourself how HJ became DOF or Bobbly was appointed a Premiership Manager having been parachuted in from division 2 French league !!!) this former / current schoolteacher has cornered the market in the specific field . No matter how dire , directionless or gutless HIS teams performance turns out to be , he has mastered art of deflection by coming out with increasingly new and innovative lines of bullshit. We have massively underestimated him , this guy is a genius ........ Unfortunately not one of a football kind !!!

As desperate as it looks it is not beyond redemption providing ........
at 22:06 3 Dec 2017

The Manager is jettisoned immediately . Through work contacts attended the Stoke game and watched the game from the home
directors box. Subsequently met some of the hierarchy of the home club and in particular their football management team for an hour following the game . What an insight !!! To a man they are in no doubt that the Swans can get themselves out of this predicament . Without being disrespectful
it was overwhelmingly clear they were alluding to the appointment of an experienced team who know and understand the Premiership. We need to act now without any delay

Is Clement dying on his arse as he did at Derby? Posted originally April 2017

After the Boxing Day non entity and then home game capitulation with Bournemouth on New Years Eve , the Board even at that stage still had a chance to salvage the season with an appointment to get the Club over the line . Redknapp was available and willing , Allardyce had been out of work for months twiddling his thumbs until Palace snagged him on Christmas Eve but the Board in their infinite wisdom sat on their arses throughout December and eventually decided Brad Bobbly could no longer be tolerated ......They then went and compounded all their previous misguided work and reverted to an applicant whom they passed over 3 months previously for Brad (following his skyped interview at that stage) and decided he was now the man .
Any reasonable enquiry with those at the helm
Or closely associated with Derby would have got the alarm bills ringing . A talent he may well be as a Coach is a world apart from being a Number 1 ,in a league and environment which is unrelenting in its pressures and ability to 'think on your feet' and adapt to circumstances which vary from minute to minute of each game let alone each fixture . After a decent start at Derby he fell away badly , started to regress into negative style football and struggled to deal with the merciless media scrutiny ! Ring any bells ???? I ask the rhetorical question , what business ( whatever field ) could excel and sustain such a systematic change of leadership (which I estimate is at least 7) since December 2015 and hope to succeed ? For the record Monk , Curt ( subsequently confirmed as permanent , then revoked) Guidolin , Curt again during latters illness , Bradley , Curt again then Clement

The difference between staying up or going down Clement v Silva
at 21:37 17 Apr 2017

After the Board eventually discovered what everyone knew from the outset that Bradley was totally and utterly out of his depth as a Premier League Manager the next vitally important task was to find a successor. 17 games and 51 points were still up for grabs, relegation was a very serious concern but by no means a certainty at that stage.
Due to the Boards undue delay , Allardyce as of Christmas Eve had gone to Palace and was therefore out of the picture so the process of finding a replacement was undertaken . But what did that process entail ? Did it entail face to face meetings with potential candidates following a short list being drawn up ? Did our American owners take the trouble of travelling to the UK to meet with those candidates ? And upon what criteria was the current Manager installed ?
Or was it all left to the one person namely the Chairman to undertake the processes referred to above ? The point is simply this . Hull
decided a change was needed and went out and got a Manager with at least a track record who took an unfancied , cash stricken second tier side Estoril into the Portuguese Premier league . Within 12 months he was at the helm of one of biggest sides in Portugal namely Sporting Lisbon winning the Portuguese Cup before moving onto Olympiakos and winning the Greek League .
We decide on a guy whom we overlooked three months earlier , whilst appointing the disastrous Bradley. That would suggest the powers that be could not have been overly impressed as ' Brad' got the nod before him !!!!!! Coupled with his abject lack of Managerial experience let alone success and there is little wonder why our position is as desperate as it is . Clement is undoubtedly a quality coach but had then and has now absolutely no credentials as a Manager. In any other business, he would not have been within a million miles of securing a post of this importance given the financial implications of relegation. If you disagree with my summary of events , ask yourself this question . Who would you prefer to be at the helm in the run in . Clement or Silva ?

Harry Redknapp/ John Hartson the Position
at 11:36 1 Jan 2017

I have read with interest the postings , many with reasoned argument as to why they should not be appointed. These are extra ordinary circumstances that the Club now find itself in and the Board in particular the Chairman should be held accountable. That said and the last time I checked there are 57 points to play for.Anyone who was present and witnessed that pitiful display yesterday can be under no illusions that to have any prospect of surviving there needs to be an acquisition of a minimum of 4/5 experienced/ quality players to include at least one if not two centre backs. Inevitably there is a cost to that but the loan system is there for a purpose, and there are some real quality players in the top 6 squads who ordinarily would play walk into this current Swansea team.Sourcing those players and more importantly persuading them to come on board is absolutely critical. Love or hate him HR is one of the best at it . No one in the history of Football has succeeded every time , but 33 years as a Manager almost exclusively at the highest level is not achieved by accident. It is and always has been put forward as a short term
Plan to extend to the end of the current season. Many have questioned the unacceptable cost associated with the same , my response to that is mentioned in the previous posting namely standard basic premiership rate ,bonus only payable if relegation avoided. No rash long term signings at this juncture for obvious financial reasons. HR is the only one who can deliver JT , Frankie junior and a whole host of others.Set that cost against engaging a manager who has to be bought out of his current employment, has to be given at least a 3 year contract with a minimum 12 months salary break clause in addition to which his Assistants contracts need also to be negotiated on identical terms albeit for lesser sums. In many respects therefore the risks financially are not as significant.
Dealing with the JH issue , point taken that his coaching experience is limited but he has had a very decent grounding in the professional game having played under O' Neil , Strachan , Graham, Wenger, Hughes , Pleat which is a reasonable ensemble of football management. Those who know him intimately revel at his astuteness when it comes to football knowledge and physically he is an extremely intimidating character. The rumours of dressing room discord would be addressed immediately and without much way of dissent. As a player he stands ' head and shoulders' above anything anyone in the current changing room has achieved.
In conclusion , yes it is a short term fix so that 5 months up the road the Club will have a better idea of how they need to cut their cloth, be assured they remain available and eager to assist. Ultimately it is a matter for the Board to decide which gives the support absolutely no confidence as the mismanagement to date can only be described as breath taking

Harry Redknapp/ John Hartson Position
at 08:59 31 Dec 2016

Contact was made with the Club immediately following the Boxing Day defeat. Discussions have taken place throughout the course of the week. They are available and more importantly extremely keen on taking up the post. HR brings 30 plus years experience in Management and a portfolio of player contacts which is second to none. JH currently resides a few miles from the Stadium is an avid Swansea supporter , has coaching experience with the National team and has secured his coaching badges. In short they are in many ways a perfect combination for the desperate plight the Club finds itself in.
Additionally ( and as importantly given the needless expense which has been frittered away on termination payments for outgoing personnel) they are prepared to take what is effectively a five month contract with what is a standard basic in Premiership terms but of course with a substantial bonus payment payable only if the Club maintains Premiership status. No
buy out clauses from their current employers( their media commitments have been agreed in principle to be suspended for the period) and no question of having to pay also for the entourage that usually comes with a new appointment. They will utilise the coaching staff that is currently engaged. They have already sounded out a number of players whom they have identified as being the type who will assist. They are confident they can turn it around , it is by no means a hopeless situation. They of course in their current capacity in the media know every single player on the Swans first team playing staff, know how the opposition will set themselves up ,their strengths and weaknesses. Finally and critically HR has that one attribute no other potential candidate possesses...................EXPERIENCE
