Town to Receive Rhodes Windfall?
Town to Receive Rhodes Windfall?

Town could be set for a windfall with Crystal Palace confirming their interest in former striker Jordan Rhodes. The Blues agreed a sell-on clause as part of the controversial deal which took the frontman, now 21, to Huddersfield for £850,000 in July 2009.

Palace assistant boss Lennie Lawrence has confirmed that Rhodes is on his club’s summer wish-list: "Jordan Rhodes is on the radar, but it won't be until we get back from holiday that I will find out how much that has been brought forward. We are still looking at him and there might possibly be a deal."

The precise size of Town’s sell-on has never been revealed but former boss Roy Keane said the club were “well provided for by sell-on clauses” when talking about the deal in November 2009. That may suggest it’s somewhere around 20% of any profit the Terriers make on the striker, the son of former Blues keeper-coach Andy.

Millwall have also been linked, with Huddersfield chief executive Nigel Clibbens determined to get a significant fee “well north of seven figures” for the Oldham-born frontman, who cost the Blues £5,000 from Barnsley’s academy when he followed his father to Suffolk in March 2005.

Last season Rhodes, who recently won his first Scotland U21 cap, scored 22 goals in all competitions having netted 23 times in his first season at the Galpharm Stadium.
