Third Shares All Round?

We all know that this is a council run project (temptation is too great here for me to miss the opportunity to say this is why it has taken so long!) and that the stadium will form the home of both Swansea City Football Club and Swansea Rugby club once it is finished, announced to be September 2005.

We also know that the Swans will move to Morfa lock, stock and barrel. The Vetch will become no more and all club offices etc will be based at Morfa. However, the rugby club will be slightly different. Games played by Swansea rugby club will be played at the stadium but it is understood that their club offices and commercial arms will remain at St Helens. St Helens will host some of the games for the newly formed Swansea-Neath side whilst some will be played at the Gnoll. The management team for the regional side will actually be based at a centre in Llandarcy where they are building purpose built facilities.

I can understand the logic of this part of things as Llandarcy is a midway point between the two venues but as far as Swansea on it's own accord goes are they really as committed to Morfa as much as the football club if they are keeping the existing offices etc at St Helens?

Back to the original question. At the moment, the ground, as I understand it, is proposed on a third input from each party - the council, the football club and the rugby club. The council are apparantely committed to the project, the football club are but the rugby club on the face of it seem less so? Have you also noticed that any comment on the stadium comes from either the football club or the council and very little is spoken about it inside St Helens?

I am sure they will play there don't get me wrong but that it appears is all they are interested in. On that basis should they have as much of a say as the other two parties or should their vote on decisions bear less weight than the other two? My view is that they are less committed to this project than the other two parties and if it happens then it happens but they don't see it as a necessity for their future unlike the Swans. My thoughts purely but I would be interested to hear other people's comments on the matter.
