West Wales Bus Service Starts For Grimsby Game

The Supporters Trust has joined with the club to help with the provision of affordable coach travel between MILFORD HAVEN and SWANSEA on home match days ……………..AND THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THIS STARTS ON SATURDAY 19TH FEBRUARY WHEN THE SWANS ARE HOME TO GRIMSBY.

Swansea City FC is THE Football League club for West Wales and we all acknowledge that many fans travel from Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire in support of this club. Sometimes travelling can be easy, sometimes not. What we hope to achieve with this scheme is the provision of coach transportation to home games which will not only be reliable and affordable but will also make it eminently 'easy' to attend the remaining games at The Vetch, this season.

Indeed, whilst there are now only a limited number of games left to play at The Vetch, we hope that if the scheme proves successful, we will be able to take it forward to the next season when we move to our new home.

The final details of the scheme have now been agreed upon with both club and coach operator, Richards Bros of Cardigan and will commencewith effect the home game withGrimsby Town on Saturday 19th February.

For those who may wish to use the service, the agreed route including pick up/drop off points/approximate times will be as follows:

Depart - MILFORD HAVEN 11.00am - Outside Robert Street Car Park

Haverfordwest - Bus Station (11.15am)

Penblewin Roundabout (Narberth) (11.30am)

Whitland - Car Park (11.40)

St Clears - Car Park Entrance (11.50am)

Carmarthen - Peacocks Store Lammas Street (12 noon)

Arrive - SWANSEA. 1.00pm

Departure from Swansea for the return journey will be at 5.15pm

For evening games the coach will depart Milford Haven at approximately 5.15pm, arriving at Swansea at about 7.15pm with approximate arrival times at the same pick up points being 5.30pm, 5.45pm, 5.55pm, 6.05pm and 6.15pm (Carmarthen) respectively. The coach will depart Swansea for the return journey at 10pm.

The cost of a return ticket will be £4 per person. This will apply regardless of the pick up point. In view of the very low cost there will be no juvenile or concessionary charge. The service is also open to existing season ticket holders who will be able to pay for the coach ticket only upon production of a current season ticket.

Non Season Ticket holding fans will be expected to purchase a match ticket upon joining the coach this in the form of a combined match/travel charge i.e. £4 plus minimum ground entry cost of £11 - a total of £15 per person.

In order to keep the initial process straightforward it has been decided to provide only adult price ground tickets as part of the scheme. Again, as the travel cost is low no concessionary or juvenile ticket prices will be available at present.

The three terrace areas currently available to Swans fans are the North Bank, West Terrace and East Terrace. Tickets for ONE of these areas will be available to non season ticket holding fans as they join the coach. The cost of each ticket will be £11. The choice of terraced area may vary dependant upon pre match demand but every effort will be made to provide North Bank tickets whenever possible. The Trust and Club reserve the right however to issue tickets of their choice in each instance.

It is also recognised that some fans pre purchase tickets via the club ticket office for collection on match days. The coach service is available to those fans too but ONLY on the proviso that they advise the Trust admin officer Debbie Rees (Phone - 07977 382328) with details of tickets ordered via the club as well as names and relevant pick up point(s) TWO DAYS in advance of the match day concerned. This requirement must be adhered to as we will wish to advise the coach driver in advance and make provision for ticket availability.

The scheme will operate for the following HOME matches:

· Grimsby Town - Sat Feb 19 KO 3pm

· Scunthorpe United - Sat Feb 26 KO 3pm

· Rochdale - Sat Mar 12 KO 3pm

· Macclesfield Town - Fri Mar 25 KO 7.45pm

· Cambridge United - Sat Apr 2 KO 3pm

· Oxford United - Fri Apr 15 KO 7.45pm

NB As the very last home league game at The Vetch (versus Shrewsbury Town) is designated as ALL TICKET a decision will be made nearer the date as to whether the coach service will operate for that match.

We would also stress that matches toward the end of the season may be designated as ALL TICKET by the Club. No tickets will be available on the coach for such games and the service will only be available to those fans that are able to produce tickets for the matches in question.

We wish to stress that it is the supporter's responsibility to ensure that tickets for such games are purchased in advance.

The scheme will now proceed as indicated. Anyone wishing to register an interest in using the service should contact Debbie via the Trust's mobile number 07977 382328. Seats on the coach cannot be reserved in advance although we are prepared to accept details of potential users in advance of each game - a name, contact number and pick up point will be required. The Trust and Club cannot guarantee a seat on any coach used. No passengers will be collected from any points on route IF the coach is already full at that time. It is recommended that persons likely to require the service REGISTER they're interest in advance as outlined above.

The scheme is under the control of the Trust's Associate Director Paul Morris and his Trust Board colleague John Young. They can be contacted via paul.morris@swanstrust.com or john.young@swanstrust.com or alternatively messages can be left with Debbie on 07977 382328 and either Paul or John will return the call as soon as is reasonably possible.
