Keeper Imminent For Swans?

Keeper Imminent For Swans

Roberto Martinez is ready for the last week before the transfer window slams shut for a few months. He has lined up a goalkeeper to provide cover for Dorus DeVries and there could be other additions to his squad - he remains looking at a striker - ahead of Friday's midnight deadline.

Martinez has been without an experienced back up since Willy packed his bags and headed off to MK Dons a few weeks back and has had only youngster Callum Hawthorne as cover in the opening games of the season. That is something he wishes to address as well as the possibility of a new striker and a central defender.

With John Hartson out of the picture, Martinez remains looking elsewhere at options and could bring in someone in the next seven days although repeated rumours linking us with a loan move for Wigan's Dave Cotterrill appear to be getting weaker rather than stronger. However, it is believed that Roberto has other options in this field and could move before Friday.

A move for a central defender could also be on the horizon although all rumours on this front appear to have died down with no strong links with any particular name which could be a good thing and the club playing their cards close to their chest.

But Martinez does seem to have a goalkeeper lined up and expects to have potentially finalised that before Reading arrive for the Carling Cup tie tomorrow evening ''I have a couple of options but it is too premature to mention names. We have made approaches and it will be finalised by either Monday or Tuesday,'' he told the Evening Post.

''If the right man becomes available and will improve us we will take it.

''We are always keeping an eye on possible targets but my concentration is on players here. My target is to take it to the next level.''

With two home games this weekend and transfer movement it could be a busy week for Swans fans with maybe one or two surprises that some aren't expecting.
