Roberto Still Not Happy With Rules

Roberto Martinez is still not happy with the rules forced on him in the Paint Pot Trophy.

The rules of the competition state that a certain number of first teamers must be involved in the starting line up which, in the first round against Millwall, gave us the farcical sight of tactical changes after ten minutes and Millwall changing their keeper in the first half.

It seems madness to create these rules for this competition when many squads in the lower divisions are down to the bare bones as it is. Yet with the Carling Cup there are no such restrictions and many teams treat the competition with disdain.

And speaking today on the eve of the game, Roberto mused over the restrictions that stops him giving everyone a run out who he would like to "It's a great opportunity for some of those players who haven't been involved that much to show what they can do,'' Roberto said on the club's official website.

"If I'm honest, I'd like to play more of them because they are all good enough. But the rules, which I don't agree with, won't allow me to do so.''

Swansea will face a Wycombe side sitting comfortably in eighth place in League Two and being tipped by many for promotion.

"Wycombe came very close to promotion last season and I expect them to be up there again,'' added Roberto. "They have made good acquisitions during the summer and I'm expecting a very hard game.

"Saturday's result was the players' reward for weeks of hard work,'' he added. "It was such a positive performance. To score five goals from open play; involving 12 or 13 passes in some cases; was extremely satisfying.

"And they had every right to enjoy the victory because they deserved it. It shows the talent in our squad when you go to the league leaders and score five goals. Now we need to carry that performance forward because I want to win every game."
