Spanish interest in the Swans is as high as their interest in Liverpool declares the Swansea manager

Interest is now naturally high in the Swans in Roberto's homeland thanks to his influx of Spanish players who kick off their tour this evening with the first of four games in four days - this one being against Espanyol.

Interest has been high in this game and around 5,000 are expected to watch from the stands with local TV also covering the game on a live basis increasing the interest.

And Roberto says that there is great interest in the Swans because of their Spanish contingent, telling the Western Mail “It’s a big game but that won’t overtake what we want from it

“The result doesn’t matter at all because for us it is a pre-season friendly where we want to work on fitness and tactics.

“It is good for our profile and there is an interest in us because fans here want to know about the ‘Spanish’ sides in Britain, Liverpool in the Premiership and Swansea in the Championship and it is good to have that awareness.

“But this will be a good workout for us and we know we will have to be tactically spot on because we will be playing a Espanyol side as strong as they can be.”

Up for grabs tonight will be the Gamba de Platter de la Palamos – a giant silver trophy in the shape of the town’s most famous export, the prawn which could fit in well in the West Stand as one joking Swans fan in Spain said earlier in the week.
