Queens Park Rangers have announced the departure of Performance Manager John Harbin with immediate effect.

The Yorkshire born fitness coach has been rumoured to have linked up with new Swans boss Paulo Sousa and his assistant Bruno Oliveira in South Wales. Spending the majority of his life in Queensland, Australia, he started his career in Rugby League coaching Wakefield Trinity Wildcats before moves to Salford City Reds and Huddersfield Giants.

Switching codes, Harbin joined Oldham Athetic as their fitness coach and subsequent switches to Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic and Coventry followed. After Iain Dowie was sacked at the Ricoh Arena, Harbin took temporary charge at the helm of the Sky Blues.

Linking up with Dowie at Queens Park Rangers, the coach gained a reputation as a task master and was a pivotal member of staff. Earning instant respect from players and fans alike, Harbin has a unique footballing philosophy based on honesty and treating the player first as human being and second a footballer. However after just over a year at Loftus Road it seems inevitable that Harbin will join the new Portuguese revolution at the Liberty Stadium.
