Huw Jenkins could not hide his sympathy for Ferrie Bodde as he stated the Swans would stand by their stricken midfielder

Bodde was ruled out for the rest of the season yesterday after suffering a repeat of the cruciate ligament damage that sidelined him for the last 6 months of last term.

Bodde went down - it appeared as a caution - against Sheffield United on Saturday but the worst fears were confirmed yesterday when it was said that Ferrie would be out for the season.

“It’s a big blow,” Jenkins told the Western Mail

“Not just for the football club but, more importantly, for Ferrie himself. He is devastated at the moment, but as a club we have told him we will look after him and stand by him every step of the way – as we did last time.

“He will remain a very important member of this football club. We all feel for him, and I’m sure every Swans fan will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.”
