Swansea City say there has been no move from Wigan for Leon Britton as the Evening Post suggests a swap deal for Watson

Wigan, led by former Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez have long since been touted around as possible suitors for Britton who is stalling over a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

But despite those paper reports there has been no interest from the Wigan manager as yet although the Evening Post suggests that Ben Watson could be used as a pawn in the deal having struggled since joining them for £2m last January.

"We have had no offer for Leon from anyone," Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post.

"And as to whether Wigan are interested in him, you will have to ask Roberto.

"As far as we are concerned, the situation with Leon is that we are still waiting for him to decide where his future lies.

"He has made it clear he would like to wait until the end of the season to make his decision and we have accepted that.

"Ideally we would like Leon to sign a new deal and commit to us so we can move forward, but at the moment that doesn't look like happening."
