Sheffield United have joined the race to sign Leon Britton but expect to lose out to Wigan

Newspaper speculation today suggested that the Blades have joined the hunt for Britton who is yet to decide where his future lies for next season.

The news comes 24 hours after the player's agent Glen Corcoran revealed that Britton has attracted interest from four other clubs as well as the Swans.

Corcoran told the Evening Post "Leon is facing what is obviously a big decision at this stage of his career and has not signed anything with anybody or given any verbal assurances," Corcoran said.

"As things stand he will be a free agent on June 30 when his contract expires, but anybody who thinks he has already left Swansea is wrong.

"We are having continual conversations with Huw Jenkins and Swansea are still in the mix. They have been as good as gold with us.

"They want to keep him and, had they gone up, it would have been an easy decision for Leon.

"But as it is, he has just gone on holiday for a couple of weeks. He wants to have a think about things and make his mind up during that time."
