Vorm Happy With Swans Point
Sunday, 2nd Mar 2014 21:02

Swans goalkeeper Michel Vorm was happy enough that the Swans secured a point against Palace at the Liberty despite them conceding a late equaliser on a frustrating afternoon at the Liberty.

Vorm was powerless to stop the penalty from Murray with less than ten minutes left of the game after Chico had fouled the Palace striker in the area after he took the ball away from the keeper after hesitation in the Swans defence.

A red card followed for the defender but there was no complaints from the keeper after the event and whilst many potentially saw the result as two points dropped, Vorm was not one of those as he explained to the official website

“From the beginning of the second half we lost our shape a little and we didn’t win the second ball. We didn’t make it easy for ourselves and they really gave it a go.

“Everything that could go wrong in the second half went wrong.

“For their goal, it started with a deep ball and Murray’s foot just got to it first, and I thought the foul was outside the box.

“I hoped it would bounce further. I had to do better than what I did, but Chico had to make the challenge
.
“It’s a red card, a penalty and a goal - so we had to fight for just a point in the end.

“We have to learn from this, and that’s why we’re probably happy with a point in the end.”

Today's game was the 44th of the season for the Swans which is more than any other Premier League team but with just league games to focus on between now and the end of the season the Swans are back on just one game a week from this point forward which will help them get the results that they still need.
